We are not even a week into the CSA T20 Challenge and things are beginning to settle beautifully into the groove. As expected, Knights, Cobras, are Warriors are still struggling to get off the mark whereas Dolphins seem to be running away at the top. Lions and Titans will be eyeing that top spot when they take on each other in the upcoming match of the competition. The match between the Titans and the Lions is to be played at Kingsmead Oval, Durban, on 22nd February.
Just like the Dolphins, the Titans too have won all of their matches thus far and much of that has to be attributed to their fantastic bowling performances. Their bowlers have played their part spectacularly well by restricting the opponents' batsmen to subpar totals on two out of two occasions.
In the first match, the Titans restricted Knights to just 116 before chasing it down with 17 balls to spare and six wickets in hand. In their subsequent match, against Cobras, their bowlers did a spectacular job to keep Cobras to just 132. With a well-made 47 from Sibonelo Makhanya, they eventually sealed the deal with six wickets in hand.
On paper, the Titans have a fantastic side that is rich in experience and has done pretty well over the years. The likes of Chris Morris, Junior Dala, and Dayyaan Galiem add depth to their batting lineup without taking anything away from the bowling. If anything, they add sharpness and variety to their team's bowling attack. With batsmen like Aiden Markram, Dean Elgar, and Theunis de Bruyn, they have no shortage of firepower in batting. Having said that, their batsmen have not looked at their best yet in the tournament. If they find their feet, Lions are not going to have an easy time on Monday.

Ever since their last title win in the CSA T20 Challenge, the Lions have been enjoying their time in the limited-overs format. They were terrific in the recently concluded Momentum One Day Cup and started off on a solid note in this tournament as well. As it stands, they are at third place with one win from one match and will be looking to stack some wins under their belt in the coming matches.
Against the Warriors, the Lions looked prolific with the ball as they restricted Warriors to just 157. Chasing that total, almost all of their top-five batsmen played their respective parts before toppling the required total with four balls to spare and four wickets in hand. While their batsmen did well, it were their bowlers who got them the win.
Kagiso Rabada, as expected, was the pick of their bowling as he picked up three wickets for 23 in his four overs. Sisanda Magala contributed with four wickets as well, but gave away 37 runs in his 3.5 overs All in all, the Lions have a team that has immaculate balance. The fact that Temba Bavuma and Rassie van der Dussen got some runs will inspire loads of confidence among the players. On paper, the Lions have potency running right through and it won't be surprising if they roar loud on Monday as well.
Ryan Rickelton, Reeza Hendricks, Temba Bavuma, RVD Dussen, Delano Potgieter, Dwaine Pretorius, Bjorn Fortuin, SSB Magala, Aaron Phangiso, Kagiso Rabada, B Hendricks.
The two teams are packed with power, be it batting or bowling. While the Lions have the momentum of back-to-back wins across the formats, the Titans will be brimming with confidence because of two superb wins in this competition. Comparing the two teams on paper, there's little to separate the two sides. However, Lions' batsmen have looked more consistent in the recent limited-overs matches that the two sides have played, and, therefore, backing Lions to win the upcoming match seems to be the right way to go here.
