TWS vs CTB Match Prediction & Betting Tips - Dec 01, 2018

South Africa's premier T20 tournament, Mzansi Super League, started with the rivalry between Cape Town Blitz and Tshwane Spartans where the Blitz thumped Spartans by a mammoth margin of 49 runs. The two teams meet once again, this time at Spartans' home ground, SuperSport Park, Centurion on 1st December. Unlike in the first match, the stakes will be a lot higher in this clash largely because of the fact that not many games are left to play before the semifinals are decided. Although Tshwane Spartans are still in the top four, they have played a game more than the Stars and Heat and the Spartans are sure to drop to the fifth position with the clash between the bottom-two teams coming up. The Blitz, on the other hand, are currently at the top of the table and a win here should be enough to cement their position in the top-four.

TWS vs CTB Team Previews

Tshwane Spartans

With the likes of AB de Villiers, Theunis de Bruyn and Dean Elgar in their batting lineup, it is really surprising that they are struggling to stay in the top-four of the points table. Their batting lineup exhibited their class in their last encounter against Jozi Stars. Despite losing three wickets almost around the conclusion of the power play, the way AB de Villiers and Dean Elgar resurrected their chase was commendable.

Whenever Spartans are out in the middle, the main attraction is always Mr. 360, AB de Villiers, and it wasn't any different when the Spartans last played at Centurion. They did get to see a bit of de Villiers, but the man who took them across the rope was Dean Elgar. Dean Elgar paced his innings in a superb fashion to guide his team to a much-needed win. AB de Villiers played a good supporting hand which proved instrumental in overhauling the chase.

Earlier with the ball, the lack of experience was clearly reflected when van Biljon smashed their bowlers to all parts of the ground in the death overs. Barring Jeevan Mendis and Sean Williams, no bowler looked penetrative enough to cause any trouble for Stars' batsmen.

Tshwane Spartans Playing 11

Gihahn Cloete, Dean Elgar, Tony de Zorzi, Theunis de Bruyn, AB de Villiers, Sean Williams, BMAJ Mendis, Corbin Bosch, Rory Kleinveldt, Lutho Sipamla, Andrew Birch.

Cape Town Blitz

The rise of the Blitz in this competition has to be attributed to the star-rich bowling lineup they have. The likes of Dale Steyn and Anrich Nortje have kept the opponents on the back-foot making the run-scoring extremely difficult more often than not. The Blitz, however, suffered a huge blow yesterday when Anrich Nortje was ruled out of the tournament with an ankle injury.

Earlier, Cape Town Blitz had to settle with a share of points when rain played spoil-sport in the top-of-the-table clash against Nelson Mandela Bay Giants. Prior to that, they lost to Paarl Rocks on the weekend where their four-match long winning streak was broken.

The Capetonians now have 20 points from six matches and are a long way ahead of the pack. Another win here will take them to at least 24 points which should be enough for them to qualify for the knockouts. They have a strong batting lineup with enough experience which is well-backed by a potent bowling attack, even without Anrich Nortje.

TWS vs CTB Betting Tips

When the two teams met earlier, it was a kind of a mismatch where Spartans failed to deal any damage whatsoever. The Cape Town Blitz have had a big break from their last completed match which should refresh their players. Tshwane Spartans, on the other hand, played their last match just a couple of days ago and scored a heartening win in that. Considering the way two teams have played in their last respective games, it's hard to choose between the sides, but the Blitz have a better bowling attack which places them slightly ahead going into this important fixture.
