Tuesday was a special day for Mzansi Super League fans. They not only witnessed a nail-biting contest between Nelson Mandela Bay Giants and Tshwane Spartans, they also witnessed two terrific innings, one from each side. With the highest successful run chase of this season, the Bay Giants climbed to the top of the ladder. The Spartans, on the other hand, are at the third spot, albeit still in a decent position. They will have yet another chance to move to the top of the table in their upcoming fixture, which is to be played against Jozi Stars at SuperSport Park, Centurion on 5th December. Jozi Stars are already out of the competition and will be looking for their first win in the tournament. Although momentum plays key role in the shortest format of the game, Jozi Stars are very capable and the Spartans won't take them lightly.
Although the Spartans' move to change their combination paid off, it couldn't get a win for them. In the earlier half of the tournament, the Spartans' openers dominated is almost all the matches, but with three consective poor outings, both Theunis de Bruyn and Dean Elgar were benched in the previous match. They were replaced by de Zorzi and Mulder, who both impressed as they got Spartans off to a flying start. After de Zorzi was dismissed, Mulder continued to quickly and that allowed AB de Villiers to get his eye in without taking any risks.
It was once again the brilliance of AB de Villiers that took Spartans to a total that looked out of reach at one point in time. The Spartans looked ahead for most part of the game, but poor fielding throughout the second innings left them wanting at the end of the game.

The lesser the said about Jozi Stars, the better. Jozi Stars have had a forgetful tournament so far and with seven losses in their seven completed matches, they occupy the bottom-most position at the ladder.
Up until their last match, it was their batting that ditched them more often than not. However, their batting came to the party against Paarl Rocks, but indisciplined bowling coupled with superb batting by Rocks handed the Stars yet another defeat. Reeza Hendricks was once again the pick of their bowlers as he notched a sparkling fifty and maintained his position on the top run-scoring charts.

Going by how the things have gone for the two teams in the tournament thus far, a win for Jozi Stars looks a remote ask. However, we have seen stranger things happen in Cricket, more so in the shortest version of the game, and Jozi Stars are more than capable to upset the Spartans. Despite being favorites, the Spartans have pretty decent odds of 1.536 on offer, and are, therefore our pick to emerge on top in the upcoming encounter.
