Amid all the uncertainties and cancellations, the One Day International between the United Arab Emirates and Ireland is finally going to happen. With the second ODI canceled, the series is now effectively a three-match affair and the next match carries significant importance. Considering that the underdogs are up in the series, the stake will be running even higher. The second match of the series is to be played at Sheikh Zayed Stadium on 14th January 2021.
Playing without of a couple of their stalwarts, United Arab Emirates surprised one and all as they defeated Ireland in the first match of the series. It was a spectacular all-around performance from them and they'll be looking to build on it and grab the series with a win in the upcoming match.
Contrary to what everyone expected, the batting pair of Muhammad Usman and Chundangapoyil was largely responsible to take UAE home after the hosts were set to chase a relatively tall total. Besides, those batsmen can at a time when UAE was struggling to get the ball rolling with 3 down for 51. With two players scoring a century each, the middle-order woes now seem to have vanished for the hosts.
Even though the hosts' top-order failed to fire in the previous match, they would be pretty happy with their batting unit. They were without Chirag Suri and the way their middle-order batsmen stepped up was commendable to see. Additionally, their batsmen have the advantage of having the experience of playing on this surface in recent times and that could come in handy in this start-stop tour.
Bowling is certainly an area where the United Arab Emirates would want to fare better going forward. Barring Rohan Mustafa and Ahmed Raza, none of their bowlers look threatening. Considering that the surface is going to be flat in the upcoming match as well, picking up wickets would be a key.
All in all, United Arab Emirates now appear to be a better team than everyone expected them to be and they looked like when the series started. They have a few issues surrounding them and if they are able to deal with that, they should be able to present a tough challenge for Ireland yet again.

Ireland came mighty close to winning the first match and would be disappointed being 1-0 down in this series. They did most of the things right in the first match but emerged as the second-best side as their bowlers failed to capitalize on the excellent start that they had. Having said that, there were plenty of positives to take from that game and Ireland will be looking to do a lot better in the upcoming contest.
Just like the hosts, Ireland will be a little fazed by what has been happening all around, but a lot less. Their top-order did pretty well in the opening match despite being unacquainted with the conditions. Paul Stirling was terrific and so was Andy Balbirinie. They have a decent amount of experience running through their lineup and that adds to the balance they have.
Unlike UAE, Ireland looked a lot threatening with the ball, especially in the early overs. They picked up three crucial wickets in the last match before their middle-over bowlers failed to take advantage. If their spinners can contribute better in the upcoming match, United Arab Emirates won't find it as easy as they found it in the opening match.

Ireland are 1-0 down in the series and are a stronger team between the two. With just two matches to go and Ireland needed to win both of those to claim the series, the series is set beautifully. Both sides have their strengths and weaknesses and the team that controls the nerves better in the upcoming match will come on front. Ireland have a better-balanced side and a more number of experienced players available at their disposal. For that reason, we believe that betting on an Ireland win should be the way to go in this contest.
