The clouds of uncertainty are just not clearing up in the series between UAE and Ireland. The match that was scheduled to be played on 14th January was cancelled and all eyes will now turn towards the next match, which is to be played on 16th January 2021. The match will be played at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi. With all other ODIs cancelled, the series is now a two-match series and Ireland will be desperate a win here before getting to play against Afghanistan.
Its been a while since UAE won the last the first match as everything scheduled after that was called off. Just when they were looking to gather momentum and use that to perform well in the series, matches got cancelled. UAE utilized the depth of their batting to chase down a towering total.
All the momentum that the United Arab Emirates had is now washed away due to multiple cancellations. They'd not only have to start from the scratch but would also not be having their full-strength squad with a couple of their players testing positive for Covid-19.
On paper, they have an extremely talented side, but lack of experience could come in to bite them. Also, they lack a threatening new-ball attack, which the visitors might want to exploit. Having said that, they still have the home advantage and a decent batting unit. As was the case in the first match, if their batting fires, they will be a difficult team to stop.

The visitors were stunned by a remarkable performance by the hosts in the first match and they've been itching to get out on the field. Already playing in the bubble, Ireland would have found the cancellations to be pretty hard on them. Despite the loss, they had plenty of positives to take from the first match and will be looking to end the series on a high.
Ireland were easily the better team in the most part of the first match but failed to control a few crucial moments and that cost them the match. They were terrific at the top of the order with Andrew Balbirnie and Paul Sterling scoring well. In addition to that, their new bowlers did pretty well only to be let down by their spinners.
All in all, Ireland have a decent team that oozes class and experience. It was rather surprising to see them going down in the first match and they'd be desperate to bounce back. Beating them again will be a tough ask for the hosts even when they have the home advantage and momentum.

While both sides will be a little perturbed by the matches getting cancelled, UAE will be more so because they'll now be a little short on manpower. Also, Ireland are a team that have more experience behind them and are, therefore, more likely to come out unscathed. They'll be itching to get out and register a win here. They have a terrific batting unit, which would now be well-acquainted to the conditions here. We back Ireland to win the upcoming encounter and end the series on a high.
