UP Warriorz Women

With the Royal Challengers Bangalore mounting a late comeback, things were looking a bit dicey for the UP Warriorz about qualifying for the next round. However, they managed to hold on to their nerves and defeated the Gujarat Giants in their latest outing. The Warriorz now have an unassailable lead over RCB and have become the 3rd team to qualify for the playoffs.

While the Warriorz lacked well-known Indian faces and many had written them off at the start of the season, the overseas players have done a phenomenal job for the team. Local talents Devika Vaidya and Kiran Navgire have also chipped in on a couple of occasions to rescue the team. While the team lacks variety in the pace department, it has a big arsenal of spinners who have done an excellent job for the team.

Sophie Ecclestone has picked up 13 wickets so far and is the Purple Cap holder. She has received good support from Rajeshwari Gayakwad and Deepti Sharma, who have picked up 16 wickets between them. Given the form and balance of their players, the Warriorz have emerged as serious contenders for the title.

Delhi Capitals Women

The Delhi Capitals have been one of the most consistent performers in this tournament and as a result, are at the top of the points table, thanks to a better NRR compared to that of the Mumbai Indians Women. A win here will give them a good chance of ending the group stage on a high and also a shot at directly making it to the finals.

Meg Lanning and Shafali Verma have performed consistently well for the team at the top of the order and have given the team some good starts throughout this season and the team will expect yet another good inning from them here. Alice Capsey and Jemimah Rodrigues have performed well in the middle order but the batting form of Jess Jonassen and Taniya Bhatia remains a bit of a concern.

Marizanne Kapp had a sedate start to the season but has gradually picked up form with the bat as well as the ball. Her bowling performance was instrumental in handing the Capitals a win against the Mumbai Indians during the last outing and helping them clinch the top spot.
