USA won its first ODI at home against Papua New Guinea in a rain-hit encounter that is going to give it a lot of confidence ahead of its next match against Namibia. The ICC Cricket World Cup league 2 is the pathway towards qualification for the 2023 World Cup and even though that goal is still far away, every team competing in this tournament has it in the back of its mind.
The weather forecast for Lauderhill Florida is much better for this match day and we should see a full 50 over match being played.
USA vs Namibia ODI ICC World Cup League Two is going to be played at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground, Lauderhill, Florida on the 17th of September 2019.
Aaron Jones and Monank Patel played very well to help USA reach 251 in their allotted 50 overs. USA had lost three early wickets and things could have got a bit difficult had the pair of them not stitched a partnership together.
Monank Patel fell for 35 while Aaron Jones continued onwards and eventually ended with 77 runs to his name. The blitz at the end from Elmore Hutchinson, who scored 42 not out from just 22 balls with four sixes included, was the cherry on top.
DLS tilted things a bit in favor of PNG but USA bowled well and eventually emerged winners by 5 runs after the DLS adjustments were made.
Karima Gore and Saurabh Netravalkar were the pick of the USA bowlers.
Namibia’s team is not too much better or worse than the other teams at this level but it does have some decent batsmen in its side. USA’s bowling will have to continue to be on its game to be able to get past Namibia.
Xavier Marshall and Jaskaran Malhotra are two of the batsmen from the USA that we think have a good opportunity to make their presence felt in this match as well.
Xavier Marshall, Jaskaran Malhotra, SR Taylor, Monank Patel, Timil Patel, Nisarg Patel, Karima Gore, Aaron Jones, Elmore Hutchinson, Jasdeep Singh, Saurabh Netravalkar.
Namibia is a tough opponent at this level of the game. It has some good batsmen and a couple of pretty experienced bowlers to help give it stability. The captain of the side, Gerhard Erasmus, is a very dependable middle-order player, maybe not the most exciting but someone who gets runs in more games than not.
Stephan Baard and Karl Birkenstock are expected to open the batting followed by JP Kotze, the wicketkeeper-batsman. These three are the heart of the Namibia batting. Birkenstock has the reputation of being an aggressive batsman that can take the game to the opposition.
Craig Williams and JJ Smit can also handle the bat very commendably to give the Namibia side some decent batting depth.
The manner in which they adjust to conditions is going to be key. The advantage of having played a lot of ODI cricket together is going to come in handy for sure.
Christie Viljoen is going to be leading the bowling attack for Namibia alongside Jan Frylinck and JJ Smit.
There are a lot of all-rounders in the side that can help out with the ball, although the quality of bowling fast goes downhill after the top-3 bowlers of the side.
Zane Green, Stephan Baard, JP Kotze, Karl Birkenstock, Gerhard Erasmus, CG Williams, C Viljoen, Bernard Scholtz, Z Groenewald, Jan Frylinck, JJ Smit.
The team that wins the toss is going to want to bat first on a pitch that will progressively become slower as the match goes on. WIning the toss and batting first is a significant advantage in this match.

USA vs Namibia ODI ICC World Cup League Two is going to be played at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground, Lauderhill, Florida on the 17th of September 2019. The weather in Florida is expected to be much better for this match than it was for the opening game. A clear day with sunny skies is forecast.
The pitch was quite good for batting in the previous match. There is a lack of bounce and pace in the surface which could make getting bug-hits difficult but taking wickets is not going to be easy either.
A score of around 250-270 is going to be quite hard to chase down.

We think Namibia has the better team in this contest. USA may have won the first match but its batting was jittery and the bowling pretty ordinary. Namibia has the long batting unit and definitely better bowlers in its side.
Bet on Namibia to win.
