WAC vs NSW Match Prediction - Oct 01, 2022

Another day, another big win for the Tasmania Tigers. That's how the Marsh Cup 2022-23 is turning out to be. Tasmanian Tigers seem to be running ahead with the initiative and the competition is getting more and more intense amongst the rest of the teams.

We now have New South Wales taking on Western Australia in what is an important match for both these sides, albeit for contrasting reasons. Western Australia already have points on the board whereas New South Wales will be desperate to get off the mark.

The match between the two sides is to be played on October 1st 2022 at Western Australia Cricket Association Ground, Perth.

WAC vs NSW Team Previews

Western Australia

Western Australia are the defending champions and have started their campaign in a pretty good manner. They won their opening game and will now be looking to build on that. Another win here will push them closer to the top spot on the ladder and that is exactly what they'll be aiming for.

At the current moment though, they are floating in the middle part of the table, largely because the two teams above them won their respective matches with bonus points. Western Australian have four points to their name with a net run-rate of 0.331.

Chasing a total of 274 runs against Victoria, they were excellent right from the word go with D'Arcy Short and Josh Phillipe adding 166 runs for the first wicket. There was pretty good contribution from their middle-order as well as Western Australia overhauled the chase with five wickets is hands and 14 balls to spare.

On paper, Western Australia have one of the best sides in the tournament with experience and talent available in both departments of the game. Their openers add aggression to the top and with a stable middle-order, they have a batting unit as good as it can get. To add to that, they have a bowling attack rich in experience.

All in all, Western Australia not only have a rich history behind them but they also have a terrific side on paper. All they'll need to do is to play to their potential and if they can do that, getting past them could prove to be exceedingly difficult.

New South Wales

New South Wales have been one of the most followed sides in Australian Cricket and were once a powerhouse. They have not been as potent as they once were and will be looking to regain the old glory they once had. They have not started off the way they would have liked and will come out all guns blazing to get a win here.

As it currently stands on the points table, they are placed at the fifth spot and another loss here will certainly put them in a spot of bother. They have a net run-rate of -0.103, which is decent given that they do not have a win to their name.

They can consider themselves a tad unlucky as they had a loss written against their name despite being in a pretty good position. They scored a decent total of 277 batting first with Daniel Hughes scoring a big century. Just when the game was in perfect balance, the rain intervened and the match was decided by the DLS method.

New South Wales have an excellent side on paper and can give even the best sides in the business a run for their money. They have plenty of experience available right through and if those players come good, getting past them could prove to be incredibly difficult.

WAC vs NSW Toss Prediction

It's nice and sunny at Perth and rain is expected to stay away for the course of the match. Having said that, it's going to be a bit cold in the morning and seamers might have some assistance on offer. Keeping at into consideration and the other factors, toss might have a big role to play. Expect the captain winning the toss to elect to field first.

Pitch and Conditions

The surface at Perth is well known for its pace and bounce and we expect nothing different this time around as well. Having said that, batsmen will have plenty of runs of offer largely because of the same reason. On the bowling front, we expect fast bowlers to be more successful than the slower ones. Expect the team batting first to target scoring a total of at least 290 runs.

WAC vs NSW Betting Tips

This is an important match for both sides but for different reasons. New South Wales will want to find their way back to winning ways whereas Western Australia will want to get close to the top as soon as possible. While the two sides are pretty much evenly balanced on paper, Western Australia would be a more confident unit, coming off an excellent win from their previous contest. Considering that and the other factors stated above, a bet on Western Australia should be the way to go here.
