WAC vs TSC Match Prediction & Betting Tips - Mar 02, 2023
Although things are set for WA to stay in the top spot in the Sheffield Shield, Tasmania is still fighting for a better place than 5th. It’s unlikely that Tassie will be able to jump three spots for second place and a possible rematch with WA in the Final, but stranger things have happened in cricket.

WAC vs TSC Team Previews
Western Australia
Western Australia hasn’t done much wrong this season in the Sheffield Shield, as they’ve lost one, drawn two, and won five games. Although the loss to South Australia was slightly unusual, the team brought things back around with a crushing 383-run victory against none other than Tasmania in the last game.
The line-up is full of star batters, but no one has shown more promise than Cameron Bancroft (767 runs with an average of 63.91), who thumped Tasmania in the last game with 176*. He’s a certainty to be picked for future ODI and Test series for Australia in the coming years.
It’s also hard to ignore the batting form of Cartwright (492 runs) and Whiteman (477), not to mention improvements from Hardie, Inglis, and Stoinis. The entire batting line-up is just solid from head to toe.
With Lance Morris playing in the national side, bowlers like Matt Kelly (27 wickets) and Corey Rocchiccioli (20) have stepped up and performed incredibly well. Kelly’s 2.06 ER proves he’s also capable of limiting runs from opposing batsmen while still picking up wickets. The emergence of Stobo is also good news for a squad often depleted by national call-ups.
Western Australia Playing 11
Aaron Hardie, Charlie Stobo, Corey Rocchiccioli, Teague Wyllie, Cameron Bancroft, Hilton Cartwright, Josh Inglis, Joel Paris, Matthew Kelly, Mitchell Marsh, Sam Whiteman.
Tasmania
Tasmania hasn’t had the best SS season, with three draws, three losses, and two wins, and they’ll need a huge amount of luck just to reach the second spot on the ladder. They were demolished by WA in their last match and the same outcome is likely in this upcoming game.
Tassie has scored the fewest runs and taken the least amount of wickets this season in the Sheffield Shield, which doesn’t bode well for their title chances. They’ve not been as bad as NSW, but that’s little comfort.
We did see decent batting from Tim Ward and Jordan Silk earlier in the year, but neither one has been impressive in recent games. Silk has just 68 runs in his last four innings, while Ward is even worse with just 37. It’s like they’ve forgotten how to bat effectively in state cricket games!
Bird (27 wickets) and Siddle (24) have been bowling fairly well, but both are not exactly young anymore and can’t be expected to do the heavy lifting in every match. Ellis and Webster have potential for the future, but aren’t quite lethal enough as bowlers just yet.
Tasmania Playing 11
BJ Webster, Lawrence Neil-Smith, Mac Wright, Tim Ward, Caleb Jewell, Jackson Bird, Jake Doran, Jarrod Freeman, Jordan Silk, Riley Meredith, Tim Paine.
WAC vs TSC Toss Prediction
WA would certainly like to bowl first if winning the toss and end the match earlier.

Pitch and Conditions
The WACA is a haven for fast bowlers with a lot of swing and bounce in the first few days. Kelly and Stobo will be at their best here on their home pitch and know how to get the most out of their fast bowling. The temperatures look very hot for the match, with around 32°C expected.
WAC vs TSC Betting Tips
Although the Betway odds for WA to win are quite boring, it’s still a safe bet because we can’t trust Tasmania to win this match or even draw it. WA demolished Tasmania in the last SS game and will certainly do so again in this one. They simply have far too many great batters and talented bowlers that Tasmania can’t handle.
Bet on Western Australia to win.
Bonus Cricket Bets
We’d probably have to go with Silk as the best batter right now, and the odds are enticing.
Any WA batter can have a great game, but we’re hoping Cartwright performs well, as he has interesting odds.
Bird is likely to be the better bowler for Tasmania and he often gets 3+ wickets on fast pitches
Either Kelly or Stobo is a good bet, although we’d go with Kelly because of his recent form.
