The weather played spoilsport in the last couple of matches of the Marsh Cup 2021 as a couple of key encounters were rained out. However, there are still a couple of matches to go for most teams and so the table could see a shuffle up going into the knockout matches.
This next match is between Western Australia and Victoria. WA has won just one match so far while Victoria has lost all of its matches in the Marsh ODI Cup 2021. The previous match played at Perth saw over 700 runs being scored and so we could be in for another very exciting match.
Western Australia vs Victoria March ODI Cup 2021 is going to be played at the WACA Ground, Perth on the 23rd of March 2021.
WA will be happy to be back at the WACA for this important match. It is just behind the leading teams right now and needs a couple of wins to be able to move up the standings.
So far, we have seen two very contrasting batting performances from WA. They scored 369 in the first match and were unable to get 150 in the next.
There is no doubt that the team has a powerful batting line-up but needs to be more consistent.
Shaun Marsh scored a century in the first match but did not feature in the second match. If he returns, WA is going to be much harder to beat.
The other batsman to look out for us Cameron Green. He made 142 in the opening match and showed just why he is rated so highly. Another match-winning inning from him cannot be ruled out. With the likes of Cameron Bancroft, Josh Inglis, and Sam Whiteman, WA's batting is better than what Victoria has.
The bowling for WA is not the strongest right now. Joel Paris, Cameron Green, Aaron Hardie, Charles Stobo, and Liam O'Connor are pretty decent but tend to be expensive.
None of them have really had a good outing in the Marsh ODI Cup so far.
CT Bancroft, SM Whiteman, Shaun Marsh, Cameron Green, Josh Inglis, Hilton Cartwright, Aaron Hardie, Joel Paris, Matthew Kelly, Liam Guthrie, Liam O'Connor.
Victoria looks to be outgunned going into this contest. It needs Peter Handscomb to score runs every single time it plays and that is just not going to happen. No player is hat good and Peter Handscomb himself is a slightly above-average player at best.
Sam Harper and Nic Maddinson are capable of scoring runs and providing the support that Handscomb needs but neither of them looks likely to be able to get the really big scores in their current form.
We worry about the Victorian batting lineup that is underpowered and in poor form.
The bowling is not that much better either. James Pattinson is going to be a big positive for the team if he is available for this match. He can be very effective at the WACA and will give Victoria the teeth they need in the bowling lineup.
The likes of Xavier Crane, Zak Evans, Brody Couch, and Todd Murphy are not going to give the WA batsmen too many sleepless nights. Even at their best, we struggle to envision how victoria is going to be able to challenge WA in this match.
Peter Handscomb, Nic Maddinson, Marcus Harris, Scott Boland, James Pattinson, Mackenzie Harvey, Sam Harper, Jon Holland, Matthew Short, Will Sutherland, Jonathan Merlo.
The team that wins the toss is likely to want to bat first and get some big runs on the board. The surface is not going to change much and we don’t think the toss is going to be a huge advantage for either team.

The conditions in Perth are expected to be very good for cricket and there is no rai forecast. As far as as the pitch goes, we think another flat, hard, and reasonably quick surface is likely. The bounce is not going to so mch that it makes batting difficult but enough that the batsmen can play their shots freely.
300 has to be on the mind of any team that bats first.
We are backing Western Australia to win this contest with a fair bit of ease. It has a stronger batting lineup, more deoth, and a better bowling attack as well. Victoria will have to play better than what we have seen it do this entire tournament and frankly there is no indication that a turaround is coming for them.
Bet on Western Australia to win.
