Alright then - two unanticipated results in CSA T20 Challenge ensure that the fans have something to look forward to in the last few matches of the league stage as well. With Warriors beating Titans and Dolphins winning against the Lions, the tournament is once again back in balance. All six teams can qualify from here and it will all depend on the next two matches of the competition.
The upcoming match between the Warriors and the Knights will knock one team out and push the other one firmly back into the contention. This match is to be played at Kingsmead Oval, Durban, on 25th February 2021. Considering the stakes involved, both sides are expected to come out hard and a cracking contest is certainly on the cards.
Just when almost everyone thought that they are down and out, the Warriors not only bounced back into the contention but also climbed back above the other two teams having the same number of wins. With a massive win over the Titans, the Warriors jumped from the sixth spot to fourth and will be looking to jump to third by registering a win in the upcoming contest. Their net run-rate took a major boost as well.
While Warriors' familiar troubles continued as they posted just about a par score of 157 for 9, their bowlers did a terrific job of keeping Titans to an even lower score. With the bat, the primary effort came from the lower-order batsmen, who together added 116 runs when it really mattered. Tristan Stubbs was the pick of the batsmen as he hammered 44 runs off just 17 deliveries. Ayabulela Gqamane's splendid knock of 37-runs provided the much-needed impetus to the innings as Warriors' carried the momentum into the second innings of the match as well.
If the likes of Wihan Lubbe, Stubbs, and Gqamane pushed Warriors into a fighting position, it was the Warriors' bowlers who actually won them the match. Mthiwekhaya Nabe, in particular, was mighty effective with the ball and returned with the figures of 4 for 21 in his four. Other bowlers played their part as well as Warriors restricted the Titans to just 117.
All in all, this win should give huge confidence to this Warriors unit. This is arguably the first major win for the Warriors this season and they'd want to build on it. They still do not have their prime players firing and if they start firing as well, the Warriors will be in business.

Just a couple of days ago, the Knights looked well-placed to qualify for the playoffs, but with a massive defeat at the hands of Lions, the Knights slid down at the speed of knots. As it stands now, the Knights are placed at the bottom of the points table and even a win here will not ensure their progression to the next round. That is largely because of their poor net run-rate of -0.687, which will likely come into the picture if they manage to win this upcoming contest.
After a terrific show against the Cobras, it was shocking to see Knights' batsmen play so haphazardly against the Lions. Batting first on a decent wicket, the Knights managed to put a total of just 106, which was eventually chased down by the Lions. Barring Farhan Behardien and Ferisco Adams, none of the Knights' batsmen looked like staying at the crease, let alone score runs. Behardien and Adams contributed with 28 and 23 runs respectively.
With a total of just 106 runs on the board, the Knights were never going to win the match and it was only a matter of how much they can stretch it. Their bowlers started off well with Gerald Coetzee picking up early wickets, but lack of scoreboard pressure on Lions allowed them to settle down and chase the target. Bowlers did well, but their batsmen would need to contribute a lot better in the upcoming match.
Wandile Makwetu, PJ van Biljon, Jonathan Vandiar, Raynard van Tonder, MC Kleinveldt, Patrick Kruger, Shaun von Berg, Alfred Mothoa, Gerald Coetzee, Migael Pretorius, Mbulelo Budaza.
Mathematically, it is possible for Knights to still qualify for the playoffs, but they'd need to register a massive win in the upcoming match. Given the way things have gone in the tournament so far, it is possible. For Warriors, however, a win should be sufficient and that is what they'll be aiming for. Comparing the two teams on paper, the Warriors seem to be slightly ahead due to the presence of experience at the top of the order. Also, they'll be under a lot less pressure because of the position they're in. For that reason, betting on a Warriors' win should be the way to go in this upcoming fixture.
