WF vs CS Match Prediction - Jan 31, 2021

The final few group matches of the Super Smash are about to be played and we have a top of the table clash to look forward to as the Wellington Firebirds take on the Central Districts Stags. The Firebirds have lost just one match in the Super Smash so far while the Central DIstricts have lost three.

With just two matches to go, there is still a theoretical chance that Central Districts could finish first provided a couple of results go their way. This match is a precursor to a contest that we could very well see in the Final of the Super Smash 2020-21 season.

Wellington Firebirds vs Central Districts Super Smash 2020-21 is going to be played at the Basin Reserve, Wellington on the 31st of January 2021.

WF vs CS Team Previews

Wellington Firebirds

An excellent all-round performance by the Wellington Firebirds in their previous match against Canterbury ensured that they got back to winning ways quickly. The batting was very effective as the likes of Devon Conway, Tom Blundell, and Troy Johnson got some runs.

Finn Allen and Michael Bracewell add a lot of batting power to the side and while they may not have scored in the recent match, they are both ins very good form as well.

Logan van Beek, Peter Younghusband, and Michael Bracewell were the stand out bowlers for the Firebirds in the previous match.

The Wellington Firebirds are a very strong team and have been in great form. It is going to be difficult to stop them from dominating once more in home conditions.

Central Districts

The Central Districts have a strong batting lineup that was unable to get the job done against the Auckland Aces in the previous match. Over the course of the Super Smash, though, George Worker, Dane Cleaver, Will Young, Ross Taylor, and Tom Bruce have all done well for themselves.

This is a very good batting lineup with good form and plenty of power on its side.

We would love to something special from Ross Taylor as he gets closer to the business end of the tournament just for old times’ sake!

Dog Bracewell and Blair Tickner will lead the bowling attack with support from Ajaz Patel, Josh Clarkson, and Joey Fields.

There is a tendency for this bowling attack to be a bit expensive on occasions but as things stand, the batting has been able to compensate for it on more occasions than not.

WF vs CS Toss Prediction

The team that wins the toss is going to want to bat first. The conditions in Wellington are not going to change too much over the course of 20 overs and setting a score may be the way to go.

Pitch and Conditions

We think the pitch is going to be good for batting at the Basin Reserve. The surface has been a bit tacky in this tournament but the previous match that was played there saw a big improvement. The weather is also expected to be sunny and dry which may help in the conditions being more favorable for the batsmen.

A score of around 180 should be seen as par batting first.
