The next match of the Burger King Super Smash 2018-19 is going to see a clash between the two top teams of the tournament right now as the Wellington Firebirds take on the Northern Knights. The Northern Knights have opened up a slight gap between themselves and everyone else by winning four out of their five matches in the Super Smash so far.
The Wellington Firebirds are second on the Super Smash League table but they are tied with two other teams at the same level. The Firebirds could win this match and have a tighter grip on that second place or find themselves near the bottom of the table after just a couple of matches.
There is no room for any of the sides in the Burger King Super Smash 2018-19 to relax right now.
The Wellington Firebirds have been doing well in this edition of the Super Smash thanks to some excellent batting from Michael Bracewell at the top of the order. He is one of the highest scorers of the Super Smash and has been responsible for getting the Wellington Firebirds off to a good start in most of the matches.
He is in excellent form and won’t be a bad pick to be the highest scorer of the team once again.
Adam Hose has also been in pretty good form and comes into this match with a fluent 54 not out in the last match. He got those runs off just 33 deliveries with three fours and two sixes. With players like Tom Blundell and Michael Pollard down the order, the Wellington Firebirds have a very decent batting lineup.
The bowling has two extremely experienced players around which it revolves. Hamish Bennett and Jeetan Patel are integral to this batting lineup. They both have been playing domestic T0 cricket for a long time with Patel having tasted success around the world as well.
Ben Sears took four wickets in the last match while Ollie Newton has been pretty okay as well. If the two senior bowlers can continue to lead from the front then this Wellington Firebirds bowling attack should do fairly well in the upcoming matches.
Devon Conway, Michael Bracewell, Adam Hose, Troy Johnson, TA Blundell, Michael Pollard, Logan van Beek, Ollie Newton, Jeetan Patel, Ian McPeake, Hamish Bennett.
The Northern Knights have been the best side of the Super Smash T20 tournament so far. They have a good batting lineup and have one of the most exciting bowling lineups in New Zealand right now.
Neil Wagner is a proven T20 star while Mitchell Santner has made a very creditable return to top class cricket as well. There is Chris Jordan in the side to add more internatioal experience as well as some serious death bowling skills to the bowling lineup. We are also very impressed with how well Scott Kuggeleijn has been bowling.
This is a very talented bowling attack that is going to make run scoring difficult for all the teams it comes up against.
The Northern Knights chased down a target of 194 in their last match without any one player really going on to make a big score. Brett Hampton scored 55 but almost all of the batsmen got a start and scored at a quick strike rate.
We are still waiting on Anton Devcich to hit top form because that will elevate this side to a whole new level. The likes of Daryl Mitchell, Corey Anderson, and some talented all-rounders gives the Northern Knights plenty of punch in their batting.
Corey Anderson has been getting back to his best over the last few months and was excellent in the Vitality Blast this year. We think he deserves a few chances slightly higher up the order because he can be an absolute game changer much like what Jimmy Neesham has been for New Zealand.
All things considered, the Northern Knights have most of their bases covered and are going to be extremely hard to stop in their current form.
Peter Bocock, Nick Kelly, Brett Hampton, Corey Anderson, Daryl Mitchell, Daniel Flynn, Joe Carter, Tarun Nethula, KY Abbott, N Wagner, Zak Gibson.

The Super Smash 2018-19 match between the Wellington Firebirds and the Northern Districts Knights is going to be played at the Basin Reserve, Wellington. The weather forecast for Wellington is quite good for match day. A very faint chance of rain is predicted and we should be able to have a full match without any interruptions.
A flat pitch with plenty of runs in it is expected for the match.
The Northern Knights are in winning form and have a stronger batting lineup than the Wellington Firebirds. The Northern Knights also have the best bowler of the Super Smash up until now in their side. We think they should be able to win this match pretty easily.
Back the Northern Knights to win.
