WF vs OV Match Prediction - Jan 31, 2023

We are down to the final few matches in the league stage of the league stage of the Super Smash 2022-23 and things are looking pretty bright from the competitiveness point of view. Almost all teams, barring Auckland Aces, of course, are all in the hunt for the playoffs and the next couple of matches are going to clear up a number of scenarios. The teams that are still in contention are expected to come out hard at each other going forward.

Up next in the tournament, we have Wellington Firebirds taking on Otago Volts in what will be an important contest for both these sides. Wellington Firebirds may be languishing in the bottom half of the ladder, a win here will be enough to push them back into the contention. Otago Volts, on the other hand, are placed pretty but would still be looking to rack a win here to feel safe. That said, both sides are expected to be desperate for a win here in this match.

The match between the two sides is to be played on the 1st February 2023 at the Basin Reserve, Wellington.

WF vs OV Team Previews

Wellington Firebirds

Wellington Firebirds are coming off a loss from their previous match, at the hands of Auckland Aces, and stand at one spot from the bottom. They still are pretty much in contention to qualify but it's definitely not an easy scenario. They would not only need to win this upcoming fixture but would also want to get some other results going their way. As it currently stands on the points table, they have 16 points to their name from a total of 9 matches with a net run-rate of 0.306. A win here will push them to the second spot, albeit temporarily, and that is exactly what they will be aiming for.

Otago Volts

Otago Volts, exactly contrary to Wellington Firebirds, may be hovering in the top half of the points table, they too aren't too safe. A loss here could put them in a spot of bother, leaving them with a must win match to follow. On the points table at the moment, they are placed at the second spot with them having 20 points and a net run-rate of 0.054. A loss here will push them to the third spot but much to their and their fans' relief, they will have another match to bounce back into the top-two positions.

WF vs OV Betting Tips

This is an important match from the qualifications standpoint and both sides would be desperate to register a win here. Otago Volts are placed pretty well at the top of the table and a win here will ascertain their qualification. Wellington Firebirds, on the other hand, will only fulfil one condition out of two if they manage to win here. Considering the recent form of the two sides, Otago Volts look ahead. They also have a better-balanced side between the two, at least on paper. For that and the other reasons stated above, we will be placing our money on an Otago Volt win.
