WI vs IND Match Prediction - Aug 04, 2019

A really slow and difficult to bat on was provided for the first T20 between the West Indies and India, not something that you want to see while actively trying to promote the game in a new country. There is not going to be much change in the surface for the second game and we will have two of the most exciting T20 teams fight it out on a dying pitch once again.

India managed to get over the line against the West Indies by 4 wickets even though they were chasing just 96 to win. We suspect that the toss had a lot to do with the victory.

Both the teams are going to do battle once again at the same venue for the second consecutive day before shifting to the Caribbean for the rest of the matches.

West Indies vs India 2nd T20 is going to be played at the Central Broward Regional Park Turf Stadium Ground, Lauderhill, Florida. On the 4th of August 2019.

WI vs IND Team Previews

West Indies

The return of Kieron Pollard and Sunil Narine proved to be an excellent addition to the West Indies side. Kieron Pollard was the only batsman on either side that was able to come to terms with the pitch and used his power to clear the boundary four times.

It was very good to see Kieron Pollard walk out at number four and not be wasted down the order. The loss of Andre Russell before the series was a big one but the West Indies still has plenty of firepower in its ranks.

Here is the thing, though. The West Indies batsman will have to make some quick adjustments to their batting to be able to adjust to the slow nature of the pitch.

Players like Evin Lewis, John Campbell, and Shimron Hetmyer need to just give themselves a few deliveries before teeing off, somewhat as Pollard and Pooran did.

The presence of Carlos Brathwaite, Rovman Powell, Keemo Paul, and Sunil Narine in the side is a testament to the length of this batting lineup which extends till number nine.

The bowling for the West Indies was pretty good and they managed to pick up six Indian wickets in this short chase. Sheldon Cottrell, Keemo paul, and Sunil Narine got two wickets each while Oshane Thomas also bowled with fire.

There are a lot of bowling options available and all of them are well versed in T20 bowling. All that the West Indies needs now is a better show from its batsmen.

India

Winning the toss and knowing they had a small target to chase was a huge advantage for India in the previous match. We are sure that they will do better of they are asked to bat first in the second T20. Indian players are brought up playing on low, slow, and turning surfaces so this is nothing new for them.

In fact, this surface suits them much more than it does the West Indies.

We were a little surprised with some of the selection choices the team made in the first T20. Not playing Shreyas Iyer in the middle order was a surprise while picking Washington Sundar ahead of Rahul Chahar as the third spinner was a bit of a shock as well.

India has a stated ambition of building its team towards the next WorldT20 in about 16 months and so it could choose to give the bench a run in the next game or may look to stick with the same side to give the incumbents a longer run.

We would ideally like to see the senior players take some breaks and give the youngsters more match time in this T20 series.

India’s batting is better suited to the slow conditions and Rishab Pant is someone we think could make a big contribution if given the chance. He is an unconventional player who finds different places on the ground to score in and will be able to manipulate the bowling to his liking.

The bowling was led brilliantly by Navdeep Saini who bowled with pace and accuracy. Washington Sundar, Ravindra Jadeja, and Krunal Pandya were also impressive while Bhuvaneshwar Kumar was his dependable self.

India should not worry too much about losing matches and must take these opportunities to find a new set of players for the future.

Pitch and Conditions

West Indies vs India 2nd T20 is going to be played at the Central Broward Regional Park Turf Stadium Ground, Lauderhill, Florida. There is nothing that is going to change the nature of the pitch within a few hours and we should expect the same kind of surface.

What will change in the adaptability of the players and that is why we could see more runs being score than in the first t20. Batting first may be the way to go in this second match now that players won’t be targeting 200.

WI vs IND Dream11 Prediction

Dream11 team for West Indies vs India 2nd T20 is going to be updated on twitter after the pitch report and toss. Follow @cricketbettings for the latest updates.

Wicketkeeper: We have picked Nicholas Pooran and Rishab Pant as our two players from this category. Both these players are excellent T20 batsmen and can take advantage of the short boundaries. The re also good against spin.

Batsmen: The pitch in the first match was not very good for the batsmen and the same is expected for this match. We have slected Kieron Pollard, the only batsman who was able to strike the ball cleanly, Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan for this match. Pollard's power makes him stand out while Rohit and Shikhar have the best chance to score batting at the top of the order.

All-rounders: Krunal Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, and Washington Sundar are the best three spinners in this match. They can also all bat which is a good quality to have.

Bowlers: Sheldon Cottrell, Sunil Narine, and Khaleel Ahmed all bowled very well in the first T20. The slow surface seems to be to their liking and we think they are going to have a big impact on the game once again. We are most impressed with Khaleel Ahmed who seems to have added a bit of pace to his bowling in his time out of the team.

Captain and Vice-Captain: We have selected Kieron Pollard as captain and Washington Sundar as the vice-captain in this match.

WI vs IND Betting Tips

We continue to think that the West Indies is a better T20 side than India in its current avatar. The conditions, though, are tailor-made for India and that gives it a huge advantage. India’s spinners are superior to the West Indies and its batsmen well versed with tacking slow conditions.

Bet on India to win.
