India’s tour of West Indies 2019 is entering its final leg of matches. The beginning of the test series will highlight the beginning of the World Test Championship campaign for India and the West Indies. This is probably the reason why India has sent its full strength team to play and not many experiments are being made.
The West Indies will come into this series with a lot of confidence. It defeated England comprehensively the last time it played at home and will want to repeat that against India. The pitches are expected to be harder than on previous tours by India and the use of the Duke cricket ball is going to help the bowlers as well.
While India goes into this test match as the favorite, there are plenty of questions that it needs to answer as well.
West Indies vs India 1st Test 2019 is going to be played at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound, Antigua.
The venue of the first test will bring back some very good memories for the West Indies. They rolled over England by a 10 wicket victory earlier this year thanks to some brilliant performers for their fast-bowlers.
Those fast bowlers are going to be in focus again. Kemar Roach, Shannon Gabriel, and Jason Holder have been very successful in recent years. They have enjoyed the return of some pace and bounce into the West Indian pitches while the Dukes ball has done its job as well.
Alzarri Joseph is missing from the successful quartet that the West Indies had put together with Keemo Paul as his replacement in the squad.
We think the West Indies may opt to Keemo Paul as their fourth bowler and for the batting, he brings to the lower order. Roston Chase is probably going to be the lone spinner for them in this match.
Kraigg Brathwaite and John Campbell are expected to open the batting for the West Indies followed by Shai Hope, Darren Bravo, Roston Chase, and Shimron Hetmyer. Shane Dowrich is the wicketkeeper-batsman while Holder and Keemo the bowling all-rounders.
On paper, this is a good lineup with players that are quite capable of winning matches. These same set of players, though, have had very little success against India in recent years. The West Indies is without a single win to its name so far and we don’t think the success it had against England almost six months back is going to make too much of a difference.
Kraigg Brathwaite, John Campbell, Shai Hope, Shamarh Brooks, Darren Bravo, Shimron Hetmyer, Roston Chase, Jason Holder, Miguel Cummins, Shannon Gabriel, Kemar Roach.
India has had a lot of success in test cricket and is the current number one ranked test nation in the world. The series win in Australia will probably go down as one of the highlights in Indian cricket history. Being unbeaten on this tour is going to give India a lot of confidence it can win. Remember, that none of the players in this side have ever experienced a loss in a test match to the West Indies and that provides innate confidence to everyone.
India’s batting is quite well settled except for a few places. Mayank Aggarwal is going to open the batting with KL Rahul. Pujara and Kohli will follow at 3 and 4. We think India is going to start with Rahane at 5 and Hanuma Vihari at 6 but the temptation to play Rohit Sharma is obviously going to be there.
Rishab Pant has made number seven his own which leaves the four bowlers.
Ravindra Jadeja batted well for India against Australia and played as the lead spinner. He will play at 8 for sure. We think India will opt for three fast bowlers and leave out both Ravi Ashwin and Kuldeep Yadav.
Mohammad Shami, Ishant Sharma, and Jaspreet BUmrah will round out the side.
This is a formidable side with plenty of batting depth and bowling firepower to call upon.
The Indian squad is deep enough to allow for changes as the conditions demand or if any unforeseen injuries occur. The players under the most pressure in this match are going to be Lokesh Rahul and Ajinkya Rahane.
Rahul has been inconsistent and has failed to nail down his spot. With Prithvi Shaw out of cricket for a year, this may be his chance to do so. Ajinkya Rahane will also know that time is running out and Rohit Sharma could very well replace him in the near future.
Mayank Agarwal, Lokesh Rahul, Cheteshwar Pujara, V Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, H Vihari, RR Pant, Ravindra Jadeja, I Sharma, Mohammed Shami, JJ Bumrah.
The team that wins the toss is going to want to bat first unless there is an astonishing amount of grass left on the surface

West Indies vs India 1st test match is going to be played at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound, Antigua. The weather forecast for the match is excellent and we should be able to get the entire scheduled overs without any trouble. A few showers may be seen on Saturday but a little rain is always expected on the islands.
The pitch is expected to be bouncy and fast with some help for the fast bowlers. It will flatten out and be at its best for batting on Day 2 and 3.
Dream11 team and Dream11 predictions for West Indies vs India 1st test 2019 is going to be based around the assumption that the pitch is going to be similar to what we saw in the last match played here. We are also assuming that all players are fit and that there are no selection surprises. Watch out for the updated Dream11 team for India vs West Indies 2019 after the pitch report and toss on twitter (@cricketbettings).
Wicketkeeper: We have selected Rishab Pant as our wicketkeeper. He has been the most successful in this format of the game so far and is worth the price. Shane DOwrich is also another good option that can be considered.
Batsmen: We have selected Virat Kohli, CHeteshwar Pujara, and Shimron Hetmyer as the three batsmen required for our Dream11 team. Kohli is in brilliant form and loves playing against the West Indies. He also has the added motivation of staying ahead of Steve Smith in the rankings. Pujara scored runs in the warm-ups while Hetmyer is also very good at number 5 for the West Indies.
All-rounders: Jason Holder, Roston Chase, and Ravindra Jadeja are the three all-rounders we like for this match. Holder and Chase are going to bowl a lot of overs and are both a very important part of the West Indian middle order. Ravindra Jadeja scored 81 in his previous match and could be the lead spinner to be chosen for this game.
Bowlers: Jasprit Bumrah, Ishant Sharma, Mohammad Shami, and Shannon Gabriel are the last four players for our Dream11 team. The entire Indian bowling attack has improved leaps and bounds. It is going to be a handful with the Dukes cricket ball and this is why we have picked all of them. Shannon Gabriel is genuinely quick and could make the Indian batsmen uncomfortable with his short-pitched bowling.
Captain and Vice-Captain: We have chosen Virat Kohli as the captain and Jasprit Bumrah as the vice-captain for our Dream11 picks West Indies vs India 1st test match 2019.

India is the best Test side in the world. It has also never lost a test match to the West Indies since 2002. There is no doubt that the West Indies standard of cricket has improved in recent times but it will still need to play out of its skin to beat India over the course of a test match.
