India won the first test match with complete ease thanks to the patience shown by their batsmen and the sheer brilliance of its bowling attack. All the talk of West Indies being an improved team at home came to naught and the home side remains winless in this entire.
Normally, the second test match of this series would not have deserved much attention and India may even have been tempted to rest some of its players. This match is, however, a part of the World Test Championship and that is why India will not be taking its foot off the accelerator just now.
The West Indian bowling showed some promise but a dramatic improvement from its batsmen will have to be made for the side to be competitive.
West Indies vs India 2nd Test 2019 is going to be played at Sabina Park, Kingston, Jamaica starting on the 30th of August 2019.
There is nothing that is more thrilling than seeing the West Indian fast bowlers bowl with fire on pitches that provide extreme pace and bounce. Unfortunately, that sight is seen far too rarely especially in test cricket.
Jason Holder asked his batsmen to look themselves in the mirror after their performance in the first match but we don’t really want to put the blame on them. They came across a superior side and were found wanting.
There were a few glimpses of talent shown in the first inning when Roston Chase, Shai Hope, Shimron Hetmyer, and Jason Holder dug in to score some runs. Kraigg Brathwaite has a poor record against India and continued to struggle in this series.
John Campbell seems an explosive batsman but we are not sure if he is the right choice for the top of the order. His technique seems too loose for this format of the game. Shamarah Brooks was only in his first match and so it would be unfair to single him out but his batting was quite poor as well.
What can the West Indies hope for in the second match?
One thing is clear that they are not going to get too many bad deliveries from the Indian bowlers. They will need to show patience and need a lot of luck to play out the difficult periods, which is something that they have struggled to do so far.
If the West Indies has to win then the bowlers have to provide the killer blow. Kemar Roach and Shannon Gabriel were quite good but the other bowlers could have been better. We think Miguel Cummins is going to be replaced with Keemo Paul for this match, which may not be a bad thing.
The pitch in Jamaica should give the West Indian bowlers a lot more bounce to exploit.
Kraigg Brathwaite, John Campbell, Shamarh Brooks, Darren Bravo, Shimron Hetmyer, Jahmar Hamilton, Rahkeem Cornwall, Roston Chase, Jason Holder, Kemar Roach, Shannon Gabriel.
India’s brilliant away record continues to improve even further after their win in the previous match. A decade and a half dominance over the West Indies is continuing and shows no sign of stopping. India batsmen were tested in the first inning only to come back very strongly in the second inning.
The lack of runs from the openers would be the only concern at this moment.
Cheteshwar Puajara also did not score runs in the first match but that is not something that Virat Kohli would be thinking about. All of the Indian batsmen can expect a stern test in the second match as well with the pitch said to be bouncy and quick.
Ajinkya Rahane marked a return to form after two years while Virat Kohli, Hanuma Vihari, and Ravindra Jadeja also contributed in the middle order.
We don’t think India is going to want to make too many changes to its side for the second test. Rohit Sharma and Ravi Ashwin will have to continue to wait for their turn.
India’s bowling was spectacular and blew the West Indies apart. If the surface in Jamaica is actually more helpful for the fast bowlers then India would not mind it at all. Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Shami, Ishant Sharma, and Ravindra Jadeja are capable of taking twenty wickets between them on any surface. Give them a surface where something is happening and they will cut right through the West Indian batting.
Things are well-settled in the Indian camp and they would be confident of another win in this match.
Lokesh Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, Cheteshwar Pujara, V Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, H Vihari, RR Pant, Ravindra Jadeja, I Sharma, Mohammed Shami, JJ Bumrah.
The team that wins the toss is going to want to bat first since the pitch tends to crack and become more difficult for batting in the fourth inning.

West Indies vs India 2nd Test 2019 is going to be played at Sabina Park, Kingston, Jamaica starting on the 30th of August 2019. The surface in Sabina Park has been worked upon in the last few years to bring back some of the life it used to have. The West Indian think tank wants to make this a venue where the opposition teams worry about coming, like Perth.
The weather forecast in Jamaica is good and even though we may have the occasional rain interruption, we should not have any trouble getting the full game in.
Dream11 prediction for West Indies vs India 2ns Test Match is going to be based around the belief that Sabina Park is going to offer up a fast and bouncy wicket for the match. That has been the recent trend at this venue and if it holds true then the Duke ball could really help the bowlers dominate proceedings. We will be updating the Dream11 team for West Indies vs India second test match on twitter after the pitch report and toss. Follow @cricketbettings for the latest updates.
Wicketkeeper: We have selected Shai Hope from the available options because he is easily the best batsman among them. He batted in the middle-order in the opening match and could be expected to do the same this time around giving him a better chance of scoring runs.
Batsmen: Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, and John Campbell are the three batsmen we have chosen for this match. Kohli is magnificent against the West Indies and loves fast conditions while Ajinkya Rahane is in top form right now. These are two easy options. John Campbell is less obvious but we think he has the capability to score runs quickly at the top and help distinguish our Dream11 team from the competitors.
All-rounders: We have chosen not to include the spin-bowling all-rounders like Ravindra Jadeja and Roston Chase in this match instead picking Jason Holder and Hanuma Vihari. We don't think spin is going to play too much of role unless the match goes deep into the fourth and fifth inning. Holder and Vihari are also in good form with the bat and can be expected to contribute lower down the order.
Bowlers: We have selected the top-5 bowlers available for this match. Jasprit Bumrah, Ishant Sharma, Mohammad Shami, Kemar Roach, and Shannon Gabriel all find a place in our Dream11 team for West Indies vs India. These are the bowlers that will do the bulk of the bowling and conditions could make them even more effective than in the first test.
Captain and Vice-Captain: We have selected Jasprit Bumrah and Ishant Sharma as the captain and vice-captain respectively for our Dream11 picks West Indies vs India second test match 2019.
West Indies proved to be no match for India in the first test. Not only will it need all the help from the conditions but it will also need its own batsmen to suddenly develop some serious test match skills. This is not a walk in the par for India but it is not expected to be too difficult either.
