West Indies won the first match of its series against Ireland by 24 runs in a match that was closer than it appeared. Ireland certainly had its moments in that contest and will be hoping to even things in this match. West Indies will be happy that it won but it would have liked the performance to be a bit more dominant. From a betting point of view, there is a lot unpack in this contest.
All the best cricket betting sites are currently giving the West Indies very short odds to win. This means they are the overwhelming favorites. We think there is more value to be found in other betting markets for this match.
Match prediction and cricket betting tips for West Indies vs Ireland 2nd ODI 2022. The match is going to be played at Sabina Park, Kingston, Jamaica on the 11th of January 2022.
West Indies batted first in the previous match and found itself in some trouble as it was reduced to 62 for four. That situation could have become much worse very quickly but Shamrh Brooks and Kieron Pollard were able to put together a brilliant partnership. West Indies eventually ended up getting to 269, a total that was just about par for the venue.
With Odean Smith batting at number nine, West Indies has a very deep batting lineup. The chances that one of these players is able to get a big score are always going to be high. We think you can look to back Shai Hope, Shamarh Brooks, and Kieron Pollard to score their runs. Bet on the 'Over' for their Over/Under markets and we think there is a good chance to be profitable.
The West Indies batting lineup is also much more profitable and betting on them to get more sixes in this match seems to be a pretty safe bet as well.
Alzarri Joseph and Romario Shepherd were the pick of the bowlers in the previous match but Jason Holder was quite impressive as well. Akeal Hossain as the spinner is also quite dependable and with a number of all-rounders to chip in, West Indies should be able to test the Irish batting in this next match also.
Shai Hope, Nicholas Pooran, Kieron Pollard, Shamarh Brooks, Justin Greaves, Jason Holder, Roston Chase, Romario Shepherd, Akeal Hosein, Alzarri Joseph, Odean Smith.
Ireland was cruising at 165 for 1 in just over 36 overs before it started losing wickets in a hurry. It got close but it really had a great chance of winning. The problem with the Irish batting is quite old. It just does not have the depth and absolutely needs one of its top-3 to fire.
Not having Paul Stirling available for this match probably ended up being the difference for Ireland but he is going to be available for this next match and is in fact going to be the captain for this match. Andrew Balbirnie has been ruled out of the match with COVID and so that is a huge blow to their chances. Harry Tector, Andy McBrine, and George Dockrell put in some good performances but it was Andrew Balbirnie that made the biggest impact in the previous match.
Ireland's lineup is not that far off from West Indies. It does, however, lack power and one batsman to bat through the inning.
Joshua Little and Mark Adair are very good bowlers and they made their presence felt in the previous match. Little is always going to test the West Indian openers with his left-arm angle and the ability to bring the ball back into the body. Craig Young, Andy McBrine, and George Dockrell all played their parts.
The Ireland cricket team is good without being at the elite level just yet.
PR Stirling, William Porterfield, Andy McBrine, Harry Tector, Curtis Campher, George Dockrell, Gareth Delany, Neil Rock, Mark Adair, Craig Young, Joshua Little.
The team that wins the toss is going to want to bat first.

There is some rain forecast in Kingston on the day of the match. That is not uncommon for the islands, though, and the rain is usually short and sharp in nature. We are hopeful that the entire 50 overs per side will be played. The pitch at Sabina Park was quite flat. It had a decent amount of pace on offer but nothing to alarm the batsmen. The outfield was very fast and the same should be the case in this match. We really think that 300 should be within reach for the teams playing in these conditions with 270 being the bare minimum they aim for.

We are going to stick with the West Indies to win this match even though the odds available on them winning are quite poor. Our suggestion would be to keep looking for improved odds through in-play betting as Ireland is always going to have its moments in the match as well. Overall, though, West Indies definitely does have a more talented squad that is experienced and well-led by Kieron Pollard.
Bet on West Indies to win.
This is an absolute no-brainer. The West Indies has possibly one of the best collection of six-hitters in the entire world and it is up against Ireland, a team that traditionally struggles with getting the big hits. The odds are not great but with almost a 40% return, they are nothing to scoff at either.
The Over/Under line for this match is basically 100. We did not see any batsman get a century in the previous match and it is by no means a guarantee that someone will get one in this match either. Looking at the batting lineups of both teams, we are inclined to bet on the 'Under' here.
