New Zealand won the T20 series against West Indies 2-1 and will now hope to win the ODI leg of this tour as well. West Indian fans will be nervous. It has lost its previous 9 ODI and if you don't count wins against the Netherlands, that streak extends to 14.
There is no surprise then that New Zealand is the odds-on favorite to win at all the best cricket betting sites. Let us take a closer look at both teams.
Match prediction and cricket betting tips for West Indies vs New Zealand 1st ODI 2022. The match will be played at the Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados on the 17th of August 2022.
West Indies has found it very hard to find any sort of rhythm in ODI cricket off-late. It lost 3-0 to India, 3-0 to Bangladesh, 3-0 to Pakistan, 3-0 to India, and 2-1 to Ireland. All of these results are in 2022 and the only series it has won was 3-0 against the Netherlands.
The batters have not been scoring enough runs for the West Indies. They did manage to score more than 300 in two matches against India so things may be turning around a little.
Shai Hope, Nicholas Pooran, and Kyle Mayers appear to be the best bets for the West Indies to make some runs in this match. We will not be backing any one of them, though, because we simply do not trust the West Indian batting enough.
A number of all-rounders add depth to the lineup but that has not mattered much in the past. Collapses are all too common for the West Indies in ODI cricket.
The bowling attack is also quite weak. Alzarri Joseph, Jason Holder, and Jayden Seales are the leading seam bowlers with support from Akeal Hosein. Kevin Sinclair has been picked in the team and may get a game as well.
Akeal Hosein is our pick for the Top Bowler West Indies betting market. He is by far the best bowler in this West Indian lineup and has been in good form.
Nicholas Pooran, Shai Hope, Shamarh Brooks, Jermaine Blackwood, Keacy Carty, Kyle Mayers, Jason Holder, Kevin Sinclair, Yannick Cariah, Alzarri Joseph, Akeal Hosein.
New Zealand has picked the same set of players for its ODI squad as it did for the T20 squad. A couple of players may be changed around but we can expect to see more or less of the same team. We think New Zealand's advantage over the West Indies is going to be much more apparent in the ODI format.
Kane Williamson immediately becomes a vital part of the batting lineup which perhaps was not true for the T20 internationals. Martin Guptill, Finn Allen, Devon Conway, and Tom Latham are all likely to play in the first match. We think you can bet on Conway to get some runs in this match. He is in good form and loves the ODI format.
Daryl Mitchell, Jimmy Neesham, and Mitch Santner are the three all-rounders that will help add a lot of balance to the playing eleven as well. It will be interesting to see which bowlers are picked for New Zealand to play in this match. Trent Boult, Tim Southee, and Lockie Ferguson/Matt Henry with Ish Sodhi as the leg-spin option seem to be the most likely choices.
Martin Guptill, Finn Allen, KS Williamson, Devon Conway, Tom Latham, Daryl Mitchell, Michael Bracewell, Mitchell Santner, TG Southee, Lockie Ferguson, Trent Boult.
The team that wins the toss is going to want to bat first.

The conditions in Barbados are expected to be quite good on the match day. There is no rain predicted and the pitch should be quite good for batting as well. Bridgetown is one of the better batting wickets in the Caribbean right now. It is not very high-scoring, though.
There were three ODI's played at this venue in 2021 between West Indies and Australia and the average scoring rate was around 5 per over. This suggests that something around 250-265 should be a good total batting first.

We are going to bet on New Zealand to win. We think the odds being offered are quite generous looking at the dismal record that West Indies has in ODI cricket. New Zealand's batting is superior and its bowling lineup is much better as well. We expect New Zealand to dominate.
Bet on New Zealand to win.
This is an absolute no-brainer. The longer the match, the more likely is the better batting lineup to hit more fours. We have no hesitation in saying that New Zealand is the better batting lineup and that you should gobble up these odds while they are still available.
Just like the previous bet, we are happy to bet on New Zealand's batting strength in this match as well. It has batters that are used to making big scores and we think one of them is likely to get a big one. A 50% return on your stake is fantastic value.
