Winnipeg Hawks
A heavy loss for the Winnipeg hawks against the Brampton Wolves in their previous match has put them in a tight spot. They no longer their destiny in their own hands and must depend on some other results going their way to sneak into the semi-finals.
The only thing that the Winnipeg hawks can do is to make sure they win against the Edmonton Royals and keep them winless in this edition of the GT20 Canada.
A lot will depend on the batting of Chris Lynn. He is easily the best batsman in the Winnipeg hawks team and is in pretty good form. Players like Shaiman Anwar and Sunny Sohal can play cameos but they are not the ones you look to in a big match.
JP Duminy is also another very good T20 players with plenty of experience performing in high-pressure situations. He and Lynn will have to score the bulk of the runs against the Edmonton Royals.
Mohammad Irfan was very impressive in the match against Brampton Wolves as he picked two wickets and even bowled a maiden in his four overs. Rayad Emrit and Dwayne Bravo are the other two dependable bowlers in the side.
A huge effort is going to be needed from everyone in the Winnipeg Hawks side to be able to ensure they win this match with ease.

Things have just not been well for the Edmonton Royals after losing some important players from their side and somehow finding a way to lose every single match. The Edmonton Royals are probably the weakest batting team in GT20 Canada right now.
Their opening pair in the last match was Navneet Dhaliwal and Richie Berrington. Good as those players are, they are not world class, which is what every other team seem to have. Mohammad Hafeez could have been expected to play a much larger role than he has for the Royals but that has not happened either.
Instead, it is Jimmy Neeshan and Ben Cutting that are expected to get most of the runs for the team. These two are very good all-rounders but they are not front line batsmen and should not be expected to play as such.
Shadab Khan is also a useful lower-order batter but not someone we would actually depend on runs for regularly.
The bowling is suffering from a similar lack in quality with the three all-rounders expected to shoulder the entire load of the Edmonton Royals once again.
This is a strategy that was flawed from the start and any matches that the Edmonton Royals win should be considered a bonus rather than the result of some deeper plan.
