Even though there has been some time since Australian Women registered a massive win over English Women in all three formats of the game, they will still be carrying the momentum of that win to the Caribbean Islands where they play West Indies in a three-match One Day International series, which will be followed by a three-match T20I series. The first of the three matches is set to be played on Coolidge Cricket Ground, Osbourn, Antigua, on 5th August. The two teams are coming off contrasting results in their previous matches, but with West Indies having the home advantage, things could get interesting in the first match of the series.
Just like Australia, West Indies too, are coming off an English tour, but they did not enjoy as much success as Australia did. They have named a thirteen-member squad, which, much to everyone's surprise, does not include Deandra Dottin. Stephanie Taylor and Hayley Matthews were brilliant in the recently concluded Kia Women's Super League and will have a big role to play in this upcoming series.
With the likes of Chedean Nation, Shemaine Campbelle, and Shakera Selman out of the ODI series, the selectors have called up Anisa Mohammad for this series. It's been a while since she played the last match - against Pakistan back in February this year. She did not have a particularly good outing as she claimed only three wickets in five matches.
All in all, West Indies have a decent side on paper, but the lack of depth in the batting order and experience could hurt them. The likes of Hayley Matthews and Stephanie Taylor will have a huge role to play on Thursday, and if they can do that, the visitors will surely have their work cut out.

Australian Women are coming off a superb win over England in all three formats of the game. They are currently placed at the numero uno position in the world rankings in all three formats and ware expected to present a tough challenge to the Caribbean team.
As this series is not being considered as difficult as the English tour, we are likely to see at least a couple of new faces take the field in the first match. The selectors have already shown signs of including Heather Graham and Erin Burns in their lineup as they were named in the 14-member squad.
The omissions of Elyse Villani, Sophie Molineux, and Nicole Bolton could have been a little tough on the team combination, but the availability of like-for-like replacements ensures that they do not lose strength in any department of the game, thanks to their superb bench strength. As has been the case in all of their past tours, beating Australia will be a steep climb for the hosts.

It's an important series for both the sides as far as Women's Cricket is concerned. Australia are undoubtedly the best team in the circuit and the West Indies have a point to prove, especially in front of the home crowd. Considering the two teams on the basis of recent performances and on-paper, Australia are miles ahead of the hosts, and are, therefore, out pick to emerge on top in the upcoming fixture.
