WPR vs WAR Match Prediction - Feb 09, 2022

We are just into the third day of the tournament in the CSA T20 Challenge 2022 and things are already looking pretty bright as far as the fate of the tournament is concerned. Two of the four matches completed were pretty close and kept the fans on the edge. The six teams all have a good amount of firepower at their disposal and should produce a cracker of a contest in the competition going forward.

Up next in the tournament, Western Province are set to take on the Warriors in what is expected to be a cracking contest. Both these sides are coming off wins in their respective matches and will want to keep the momentum intact. The match between the two sides is to be played on 9th February at St George's Park, Port Elizabeth.

WPR vs WAR Team Previews

Western Province

Western Province got off to a terrific start to the tournament as they posted a big win over the Rocks in their first match. Their win was pretty much orchestrated by their bowlers before Richard Levi sealed the deal with a quick-fire half-century.

Bowling first on a surface that had almost nothing for the bowlers, Western Province were remarkably clinical in the first innings. Not only did their bowlers keep things tight, but they were also able to pick up early wickets. They were eventually left to chase down a total of 142, which they did in a fantastic manner. While their chase was led by Richard Levi, who slammed 67 off just 39 deliveries, their middle-order too did a brilliant job to help their side win with considerable ease.

On paper, Western Province have a decent side with good experience available in both departments of the game. The likes of Richard Levi, Dane Vilas, Wayne Parnell, Beuran Hendricks, and Gorge Linde are all seasoned campaigners and will hold the key to their fortunes. Besides, Western Province have some of the most talented domestic players available at their disposal. All in all, if they are able to play to their potential in this upcoming match, beating them is going to be a steep climb.

Warriors

Even though the Warriors too got off to a winning start, their win wasn't as big as the one that Western Province posted over the Rocks. Having said that, the Warriors will be pretty content with the performance they put in the previous match, especially given the on-paper strength that Titans had.

It was a solid all-around effort from their batsmen and bowlers combined as the Warriors edged the Titans in their opening fixture. Batting first, the Warriors managed to put up a total of 163 runs after Wihan Lubbe and Breetzke provided them a terrific start. However, it was the innings from Tristan Stubbs, who scored 51 off 27, that proved to be the difference between a win and loss for the Warriors. Their total wasn't a safe score by any means, but the way their bowlers defended that total was certainly a commendable effort.

On paper, the Warriors are a pretty young side with ample experience available in the form of JJ Smuts, Sine Queshile, and Matt Breetzke. Their bowling lacks experience but the way they did against the Titans should inspire confidence. All in all, the Warriors are a side that are capable of doing a lot more than the sum of their parts. If they are able to produce a performance similar to one they did in their last game, they will be in business big time.

WPR vs WAR Betting Tips

Both these sides are coming off wins in their respective last matches and this match will be the battle to occupy the top spot of the ladder, at least for the time being. There isn't much to take away from the way these two sides played in their last respective matches, but Western Province did look a better-balanced side, on paper as well as performance-wise. For that reason and the others stated above, betting on a Western Province win should be the way to go here.
