The North Group points table in Vitality T20 Blast 2019 is jam-packed at the top of the table with four teams tied at three points each, the competition is cut-throat. Derbyshire are right below the group with three points each with two points to their name from one match played. They'll be up against Birmingham Bears in their next fixture and will be looking to get to the top of the table with a win. The match between the two sides is set to be played at the iconic venue of Edgbaston Cricket Ground, Birmingham. The Bears won their second match and had to settle with a shared point as the game was abandoned, without a ball bowled, due to rain. Considering that both the sides are coming off emphatic victories in their respective matches and are super-strong on paper, it's expected to be a humdinger of a cricket match and crowd at Edgbaston is undoubtedly in for a treat.
Birmingham Bears put up a complete performance in their previous fixture as they defeated Leicestershire by a convincing margin. It was their bowlers who set up this win as they kept Leicestershire under 120 in the allotted 20 overs. The Bears eventually chased it down pretty quickly with more than five overs to spare, helping their net run-rate in the process.
Bowling first on a cloudy day, Fidel Edwards and Henry Brookes troubled almost all the Leicestershire's batsmen and dismissed both their openers off their very first respective deliveries. The likes of Ashton Agar and Jeetan Patel also contributed in the middle overs, after a terrific opening burst from Fidel Edwards, as the Bears kept on chipping away with the wickets. They ended up restricting the Bears for just 115 with Fidel Edwards returning with terrific figures of 4 for 22 in his four overs.
Regardless of the overhead conditions and the surface, chasing such a low total shouldn't have been difficult, and it wasn't either. Even though Michael Burgess was dismissed pretty early for a personal score of three, Ed Pollock, Sam Hain, and Ashton Agar played wonderful little cameos to take them across the line. The management and the fans would be pretty satisfied with the performance of their team, and if we happen to see similar conditions on Wednesday, it's not going to be easy to get past this side.
Ed Pollock, Michael Burgess , Sam Hain, Ashton Agar, Adam Hose, Will Rhodes, Liam Banks, Alex Thomson, Jeetan Patel, Henry Brookes, FH Edwards.
Derbyshire rode high on a measured half-century from Billy Godleman as they cruised past Yorkshire in their first match of the season. While they were able to salvage two crucial points from the game and their bowlers bowled beautifully, there were indeed a few issues which they'd like to fix going forward in the tournament.
Bowling first on an excellent day for batting, Derbyshire bowlers failed to contain Yorkshire openers early on, but once Ravi Rampaul got rid of Adam Lyth, Derbyshire bowlers began to make inroads in Yorkshire's batting. Considering that they reduced Yorks to 77 for six at one stage, they'd be pretty disappointed that they eventually had to chase in excess of 160. Mark Watt was the pick of the bowlers as he picked up crucial wickets, including that of David Willey and Nicholas Pooran, and ended up with four wickets to his name.
Chasing 165, Yorkshire were always in the game but never ahead. They kept losing wickets at the regular intervals, and it eventually took a superb 65-run stand between Godleman and Leus du Plooy to take them home. They ultimately ended up winning the match convincingly with five balls to spare and five wickets in hand. Having said that, they'd be keen to improve their death bowling as well as top-order batting before their next appearance. If Derbyshire can do that, they may very well end up defeating the Bears at their own backyard.
Fynn Hudson, BA Godleman, Luis Reece, WL Madsen, A Leus du Plooy, Darren Stevens, MJJ Critchley, D Smit, Logan van Beek, MRJ Watt, Ravi Rampaul.

Both the sides had a poor last season as they both failed to qualify for the playoffs and would love to carry on with the start they've been off to in this edition. They are evenly matched on paper with both having different sets of strengths and weakness. The Bears are playing at home where the conditions are likely to suit their bowling attack. Additionally, they have a superb all-round bowling attack, covering both spin and pace, and their bowlers won't be easy to deal with in bowling friendly conditions. Because of the reasons mentioned above and the fact that they are playing at home, we think that the Bears are better placed to emerge on top in the upcoming fixture.
