YD vs LT Match Prediction - Aug 23, 2019

The Yorkshire Diamonds and Lancashire Thunder are at the bottom of the Women’s Cricket Super League 2019 league table right now. While Lancashire Thunder is out of the running for a spot in the playoffs, Yorkshire Thunder has a chance to keep the pressure on the teams above it by getting a win.

Two wins out of the seven matches it has played is not a fair reflection of the talent that Yorkshire possesses but tournaments are not won on potential alone. Lancashire, on the other hand, has yet to win a match this season.

Yorkshire Diamonds vs Lancashire Thunder Women’s Cricket Super League 2019 is going to be played at North Marine Road Ground, Scarborough on the 23rd of August 2019.

YD vs LT Team Previews

Yorkshire Women

Yorkshire Diamonds had an excellent chance to beat the Southern Viper in the previous game but they could not get over the line. Bowling first, the Yorkshire Diamonds restricted the Southern Vipers to just 127 runs.

Wickets for Katie Levick, Katie George, and Leigh Kaspersk sparked a collapse in the Southern Vipers after some solid runs from their top-order.

Unfortunately, the Yorkshire Diamonds batting did not turn up. Alyssa Healy was runout just when she was getting started and that took the sail out of the winds for Yorkshire. Lauren Winfield, Hollie Armitage, Jemimah Rodrigues, and Alice Richards got starts but the team fell three runs short.

Yorkshire has no scope for such mistakes against Lancashire and must try to win with a bonus point. It has the batting to be able to do so and perhaps having no room for error allows them to play freely.

Yorkshire Women Playing 11

Lauren Winfield, Alyssa Healy, Hollie Armitage, Alice Richards, Jemimah Rodrigues, Leigh Kasperek, Cordelia Griffith, Katie Levick, Bess Heath, Linsey Smith, Beth Langston.

Lancashire Women

Six losses from seven matches and only a tie as something to show for their efforts so far is a disastrous season for Lancashire Thunder.

Nothing the team has tried or any of the players they have rotated have worked. Some excellent players like Harmanpreet Kaur, Tahlia McGrath, Sune Luus, and Emma Lamb have underperformed.

They have nothing on the line now. Maybe the traditional Yorkshire vs Lancashire rivalry will serve as the motivation they need to change things around and get at least one win under their belt.

Sophie Ecclestone, Kate Cross, and Emma Lamb bowled very well in the previous match and got some early wickets but the other bowlers could not back up their good work.

Lancashire Thunder is certainly not as bad a side as this tournament suggests but it is difficult to see at the moment where their next win is coming from. They are going to need an inning of individual brilliance to help break them out of this losing spree.

Lancashire Women Playing 11

Sune Luus, Tahlia McGrath, Sophia Dunkley Brown, Harmanpreet Kaur, Eleanor Threlkeld, Emma Lamb, Ria Fackrell, Sophie Ecclestone, Kate Cross, Natalie Brown, Alex Hartley.

Pitch and Conditions

Yorkshire Diamonds vs Lancashire Thunder Women’s Cricket Super League 2019 is going to be played at the North Marine Road Ground, Scarborough. The weather forecast for match day is excellent and we should have no trouble getting a full match in.

The pitch at Scarborough is quite good and we think we should see a pretty high scoring encounter. A total of around 140 should be considered par for the course.

YD vs LT Betting Tips

We think the Yorkshire Diamonds have a lot more at stake and that will make them hungrier for success. Six consecutive losses have to take its mental toll on a team and this point Lancashire Thunder would just want this tournament to be over.

Bet on the Yorkshire Diamonds to win.
