YOR vs DUR Match Prediction & Analysis

It is hard to see any manner through which Yorkshire can resurrect its T20 Blast 2019 season and actually go on to make the quarter-finals. It is still possible theoretically and that is what the fans must hope for but it does not seem realistic at all.

That does not mean Yorkshire cannot win a few matches, though, and that is exactly what it would be hoping to do against Durham.

Durham is locked in a tight race for a quarter-final spot and is joined by four other teams with exactly the same wins from nearly the same matches. Getting a few wins under its belt is very important for Durham.

Yorkshire vs Durham T20 Blast 2019 is going to be played Headingly, Leeds, on the 16th of August 2019.

Team Previews

Yorkshire

A 55 runs loss to Derbyshire seems to have ended Yorkshire’s realistic chances of making a late comeback into the tournament. With just one win from nine matches, it is fair to say that Yorkshire has been terrible this season.

The addition of Keshav Maharaj to the bowling unit did not make much difference as Yorkshire still ended up giving away 207 runs. Duane Olivier went for 47 runs in his three overs to be the worst of the lot but there was no bowler that covered himself in glory.

David Willey, Dominic Bess, Tim Bresnan, and Duanne Olivier are all going through a slump which is refusing to end.

Looking at the batting lineup for Yorkshire, it is clear that Adam Lyth and Tom Kohler-Cadmore are the two batsmen that stand out. They need to carry a lot of the other players that are just not performing. The use-by date for David Willey’s pinch-hitting also seems to have arrived but the team management refuses to acknowledge it.

There are a lot of Yorkshire players that are good individually but they are not coming together as a team at the moment.

Durham

How do you lose a match after being 79 for no loss chasing 118? Durham did exactly that in its previous match and we are sure they would be hurting. An excellent bowling performance on a difficult pitch kept Worcestershire to just 117.

Liam Trevaskis and Matt Potts were the best bowlers on the day picking five wickets between them at an excellent economy rate. All the other bowlers also had a good day as can be expected by seeing the opposition scorecard.

The batting response for Durham seemed to be going to plan. Darcy Short was batting fluently and Scott Steel was doing pretty well also before Durham lost three wickets in the space of one run. Wickets kept on tumbling from then on and there was no one to help Durham reach over the line.

A clear dependence on Darcy Short for the runs has been established by Durham this season and this previous match just underscored that once again. Players like Peter Handscomb and Graham Clark need to start being more consistent if Durham has to make the quarter-finals.

Pitch and Conditions

Yorkshire vs Durham T20 Blast 2019 is going to be played at Headingly, Leeds. A lot of rain is forecast for match day in Leeds and there is a real possibility of a complete washout.

The pitch at Headingly has been good for batting but we don’t think we Are going to be able to witness that in this match.

YOR vs DUR Betting Tips

Yorkshire may have just one win to its name but we still think it is good enough to beat Durham in this contest. If Yorkshire can get Darcy Short out then half the job is done anyway.

Bet on Yorkshire to win.
