With so many matches set to be played on Thursday, it is going to be a day full of excitement for the Cricket fans. The match between Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire, which is going to be one of the last matches of the day, could prove to be the perfect tonic to mark the end of the day. They are the two of the most popular sides in T20 Blast and this match is going to attract a lot of eyeballs. The match is scheduled to be played on the evening of 27th August 2020 at Emerald Headingly, Leeds.
Despite the presence of many English stars available in their lineup, Yorkshire Vikings failed to make it to the knockout round. That, however, has been the case with them for eight years as their last best performance was way back in 2012 when they finished as runners-up. Like most other teams, they were not spared by weather, which played a good role in keeping them from the quarter-final spot.
Yorkshire Vikings had four of their matches abandoned without a ball being bowled. From their remaining matches, they could win only four, which was better only than Glamorgan in the entire competition. The most remarkable point about their campaign last year was that they failed to defeat any team that finished above them in the competition.
With England having its matches scheduled against Pakistan and Australia, Yorkshire Vikings may not have a full-strength squad to play with. Instead of that, however, they have a well-balanced side that contains exceptionally talented players. Tom Kohler Cadmore is one of them and his exceptional record in last year's T20 Blast is an evidence of that. He scored a total of 435 runs in the tournament at an incredible average of 62.14
Alongside Cadmore, they have Adam Lyth available at the top of the order. The pair is one of the most experienced pair in the domestic circuit and will certainly hold the key for the Vikings. With the ball, they have Jack Shutt and Duanne Olivier available at their disposal. Their presence of English stars, if available, will add to the depth to their batting and variety to their bowling. They also have Joe Root available and his experience could prove to be invaluable in the middle-order.
Without their star players, the Vikings look like a mere shadow of themselves. They have the likes of Jonny Bairstow, Adil Rashid, David Willey, and Joe Root, but there is absolutely no certainty in the availability of any of them. The Vikings are likely to play most of their matches without them, including the first match, and that leaves a big gap to fill in their middle order. Their top-order and bowling will certainly have a big job to do for Vikings to get off to a good start in the competition.

Over the years, Nottinghamshire Outlaws have done incredibly well in all formats of the game. They did well last year as well, but the failure to seal the deal despite being in a winning position would certainly be haunting them. They had a terrific run last time but fell short against Worcestershire in the semi-final. They needed just 11 runs to win off 12 deliveries with eight wickets in hand and somehow still managed to mess up the chase and lose by one run.
Nottinghamshire Outlaws are an incredibly consistent side. They have found themselves in the knockouts more often than not and that is something to take pride in. Considering the players that they have, it is not a surprise. With the likes of Alex Hales, Chris Nash, and Ben Duckett available at the top, their top-order is second to none. The only way to get past them is to take wickets in the powerplay because if they have wickets in hand at the death, the Notts will punish - such is the depth and power in their middle-order. Dan Christian's availability is still uncertain and his absence will certainly be a massive setback for the Notts. He was also due to captain this Notts side.
They appear to be having a decently balanced bowling attack. With 22 wickets to his name, Harry Gurney produced a remarkable performance last year and will lead the Notts' pace attack. With the likes of Samit Patel, Chris Nash, and Steven Mullaney to assist him, they have a pretty well-balanced bowling attack. The absence of Christian, however, is likely to be felt here as well.
There is no doubt regarding the balance and consistency of this Nottinghamshire side. However, with Dan Christian's participation uncertain, they will need to find a player who can lead the side. It is not going to be an easy task, but with the experience the Notts have, they should be able to deal with it.

With moisture in the surface and overcast overhead conditions, batting in the early overs is going to be tough. There is a high probability of rain affecting the game and the DLS method coming into the picture. To take advantage of that possible situation and the conditions, the captain of the team winning the toss should elect to bowl first.

Featuring one of the most difficult surfaces to bat on in the longest format of the game, Headingly Cricket Ground has a record that favors the batsmen in the shortest version. The overhead conditions, however, are not expected to be ideal for batting with rain predicted for most of the day. There is likely to be assistance for the fast bowlers and scoring against the new ball will be difficult. The team batting first should be happy with a total of anything over 160.

Both sides do not appear to have impacted by the pandemic as much and are likely to play with the pretty much the sides as the last year's. With its international stars way for national duty, Vikings suffered last year and it is expected to be the same this time around as well. Notts, despite the unavailability of Dan Christian, appears to be a pretty well-balanced unit. They have been one of the most consistent sides in the group stage over the years and they will surely draw confidence from that. A bet on Nottinghamshire Outlaws' win should be the way to go in this contest.
