But some later-order heroics by players such as Clive Madande, Wellington Masakadza, and Richard Ngarava ensured that the team reached a good total of 249 runs in the end. Madande is a wicketkeeper batsman for Zimbabwe. He scored 74 runs from 98 balls with 6 fours to steady the ship for Zim in the lower middle order.

Madande was well supported in the lower order by players such as Wellington Masakadza who scored 34 runs from 50 balls with 3 fours. The Zimbabwe innings was provided some much-needed impetus during the end of the inning by Richard Ngarava. Ngarava scored 35 runs from 27 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes. Richard Ngarava also bowled well during the Netherlands inning and picked up a couple of wickets early to set up the defense of the score set by Zimbabwe. 

Another bowler who was the pick of the bowlers for Zimbabwe during the Netherlands innings was Wellington Masakatza. He picked up 3 wickets for 36 runs from his quota of 10 overs. Ngarava bowled his 10 overs for 44 runs while picking up his 2 victims right at the start of the innings. The only other wicket that fell to a bowler was picked up by Brad Evans. Evans bowled 5.5 overs for 30 runs picking up this wicket. The all-around performance from Richard Ngarava and Wellington Masakadza was not enough to clinch a win for Zimbabwe in this game. 

Netherlands

The Netherlands team pulled off a minor miracle in their first game of the series winning the match after a gap of 2 years and 15 matches. They beat a better side in this game while playing in away conditions. Fred Klaassen was the pick of the bowlers for the Netherlands. He opened the bowling attack and collected 3 wickets for 41 runs from his 9.3 overs. He was the bowler that was responsible for the early damage to the Zimbabwe innings. Along with Klaassen, Paul van Meekeren also picked up 2 wickets for 50 runs from 9 overs.

Almost all the bowlers used by the Netherlands during the Zimbabwe innings were among the wickets. Brandon Grover, Vikramjit Singh, and Shariz Ahmed all picked up a wicket apiece to reduce Zim to 98 for 7. It was thanks mainly to a late order charge by Clive Madande that Zimbabwe managed to reach a respectable total of 249 runs although they were bowled out in the process. The Netherlands team did not get off to a great start either as they quickly went down to 5 for 64 in 20.3 overs. Some early wickets were exactly what the doctor ordered for Zimbabwe.

The first bit of resistance to the Zimbabwe bowlers came from Colin Ackermann. He scored fifty from 72 balls with 4 fours to stem the flow of wickets to an extent. However, the real star of the Netherlands innings was Teja Nidamanuru who hit 110 runs from 96 balls with 9 fours and 3 sixes to guide the Netherlands team to an unlikely win in 49.5 overs. It was a closely fought affair till the end. Nidamanuru was well-supported in his efforts by the lower-order batters such as Shariz Ahmad and Paul van Meekeren who scored 30 and 21 runs respectively.
