It was a series against Zimbabwe that kick-started Pakistan's cricket after a dreadful World Cup '19. They are back at the same place against the same opponents, but this time they will be brimming with confidence owing to their splendid series win over the Proteas.
This series could very well act for Pakistan as a dress rehearsal before ICC World T20, which is to be played later this year. For Zimbabwe, who will not be playing the prestigious tournament, it will be a matter of proving what the tournament will be missing. Zimbabwe are clearly the underdogs between the two sides, but they certainly are capable of toppling any side on their day.
The first match of the three-match T20I series is to be played at Harare Sports Club, Harare, on 21st April 2021.
Coming off a poor series against Afghanistan, Zimbabwe will be hoping to utilize the conditions to their advantage. One of the perceived reasons for their loss against Afghanistan was the absence of their key players, two of whom will be available to play this series.
Brendan Taylor and Craig Ervine will add strength to their batting unit. Not only will they be better equipped with the bat also they'll now have experience available in the middle-order. While the addition of two experienced players has bolstered their lineup, the absence of Sikandar Raza will take away some of the balance. Raza could have proved handy at Harare, where conditions generally support the slower bowlers, but not to be.
With the likes of Sean Williams, Craig Ervine, Brendan Taylor, and Donald Tiripano, this Zimbabwean unit looks rich in experience. Along with the home advantage, they have an excellent amalgamation of youth and experience. If their players can perform to potential, they are certainly capable enough to give Pakistan a run for their money.
Tinashe Kamunhukamwe, Wesley Madhevere, Tadiwanashe Marumani, Craig Ervine, Sean Williams, Ryan Burl, Regis Chakabva, Luke Jongwe, Wellington Masakadza, Blessing Muzarabani, Richard Ngarava.
With a 3-1 series win over the Proteas, Pakistan couldn't have been more satisfied. Although that win came over a virtually second-string South African side, that will do a world of good to South Africa's plans for the ICC World T20, which is to be played in India later this year. They topped off the series with a close win over South Africa in a low-scoring win and will want to keep the momentum going against Zimbabwe as well.
In the series against the Proteas, it was Pakistan's bowling that proved to be the difference between the two sides. The fact that their bowlers did well to keep Proteas to about on-par scores in almost all matches made the job a whole lot easier for their batsmen. Apart from the bowlers, it was refreshing to see the likes of Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Fakhar Zaman rack up some runs.
All in all, Pakistan were brilliant in the last series and could be difficult to deal with for Zimbabwe. Having said that, they lack experience in the lower middle-order and if the hosts can get quick and early breakthroughs, beating Pakistan might well become pretty doable.
Mohammad Rizwan, Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Hafeez, Haider Ali, Danish Aziz, Faheem Ashraf, Mohammad Nawaz, Usman Qadir, Mohammad Hasnain, Haris Rauf.

Not only there's a day and night of difference between the two sides on paper, but the two sides also come into the series on the back of contrasting form. While Pakistan will be brimming with confidence following a terrific win over South Africa, Zimbabwe would want to shrug off their loss against the Afghans. Pakistan will be a more confident team between the two and are a better team on all accounts. We do not think there will be an upset here and betting on Pakistan's win is the way to go.
