Zimbabwe, despite not actively playing ICC events, have done incredibly well in the bilaterals across formats. They have repeatedly gotten past higher seeded teams with their young and well as experienced players contributing to perfection. In the most recent match as well - the first match of the series, the fact that they managed to draw was a commendable effort.

 

On paper, Zimbabwe have a pretty good side that is well capable of taking on even the best on their home turf. The addition of Gary Ballance has worked wonders to their balance and that was apparent in the first match too. On the bowling front though, the Zimbabweans look a little less sharp. They struggled to pick up wickets in the first match and that might happen yet again. Having said that, if they can get their bowling right, they can be a big threat to West Indies.

West Indies

West Indies have been in the rebuilding phase for a while now and the inflow of the younger players just doesn't seem to be stopping. The good thing for them is that the young players who are getting chances have done pretty well in limited time already. West Indies would be disappointed that they couldn't force a result in the first match and will be desperate to do so when they meet Zimbabwe for the second time in the series. 

 

It took Windies a while before they got acquainted with the conditions. While their batters looked all set right from the word go, their bowlers struggled to hit the right areas. In the second innings though, everything looked like clockwork for them but they ran out of time. We expect West Indies to do a lot better than they did in the opening test. They would want to continue building on that and if that happens, Zimbabwe will have their work cut out.
