DHG vs CLS Match Preview

The Dambulla Giants posted 121 runs on the scoreboard in their previous match, largely due to a 63-run opening stand between the openers, Jordan Cox and Shevon Daniel. The middle order wasn’t able to capitalize on the good start, and batsmen including Sikandar Raza, Dasun Shanaka, and Chaturanga de Silva failed to reach double-digits.

The bowling too was quite lackluster.

Angelo Mathews is once again leading the squad for the Colombo Stars. He scored at an impressive average of close to 48 in the last season.

Supporting him will be Dinesh Chandimal, who was the top-scorer for the Stars in the previous season. The management has also brought in reinforcements for the middle order in the form of Ravi Bopara, Benny Howell, and Keemo Paul.

While Dushmantha Chameera is missing from the squad, the Stars still have their best bowlers from the last season, including Naveen ul-Haq, Jeffrey Vandersay, and Seekkuge Prasanna.

Weather Report

The weather is expected to be windy and humid, and there will be some stray clouds. The temperature is expected to remain between 25-30 degrees.

Pitch Report

As seen in the last few matches, the pitch at Hambantota is a good batting track, and we should see a high-scoring encounter. However, as the match progresses, the spinners will be able to extract some turn from the rough patches.

Teams batting first will be looking to score more than 140 to give their bowlers a fighting chance.

Notable stats

Dinesh Chandimal's Excellent Batting

Chandimal has been a consistent performer for the Stars. In the last 10 games, he has scored 286 runs at an average of 40.86 and a strike rate of 148.

Shevon Daniel’s Promising Debut

Daniel made his T20 debut earlier this year, and the 18-year-old seems to be quite talented. In the 7 innings that he has batted, Daniel has scored 207 runs, including 2 half-centuries and an average of 34.5.

Team News

Both teams are expected to field an unchanged playing eleven for this match, as there is no news of any injuries in either of the squads.

Dream11 Prediction

While the Giants have enjoyed the upper hand in the last few matches, we expect the Stars to come back strongly in this game. The Giants have made a lot of tweaks and changes to the squad since last year, and seem to be lacking in quality players. On the other hand, the Stars’ line-up looks only stronger due to the changes made.

Top Picks

Seekkuge Prasanna: Prasanna was one of the top wicket-takers for the Stars in the previous season, scalping 13 wickets. In the last 9 matches, he has picked up 14 wickets and has an economy rate of just 6.65.

Angelo Matthews: The captain of the Stars’ squad is a reliable player at the top of the order. In his past 6 appearances, Matthews has scored 217 runs at an average of 43.4 and a strike rate of 126.

Dasun Shanaka: Shanaka is a veteran all-rounder when it comes to T20 cricket. In his 167 matches, Shanaka has scored 3404 runs and picked up 50 wickets.
