GT vs MI Match Preview

Shubhman Gill has had a phenomenal season so far. He has been very consistent for the Titans in the opening slot and is currently second in the race for the Orange Cap, trailing Du Plessis by just 8 runs. While he will once again be the key batsman for his team here, he will look for better support from Wriddhiman Saha at the other end.

Vijay Shankar and Hardik Pandya have played some good innings in the middle order but more will be expected from them. David Miller and Rahul Tewatia haven’t been in the best of forms, but to the Gujarat Titans’ advantage, they have a long batting line-up. In the bowling department, Mohammed Shami and Rashid Khan are having their best-ever seasons in the IPL and are the top two bowlers this year.

The duo will play an important role here against the big hitters from MI. Mohit Sharma has taken plenty of wickets too but is a bit expensive, while Noor Ahmad is proving to be a good asset during the middle overs.

Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma will look to give the team a brisk start here. While Kishan has been hitting the ball well, Sharma has looked a bit rusty at times and will be hoping to bounce back here. Cameron Green and Suryakumar Yadav are in excellent form and have scored plenty of runs in the last few weeks.

They will be looking to snatch the game away from the opposition by playing some big shots. The return of Tilak Varma adds stability to the middle order. The Mumbai Indians have some big hitters lower down the order. Nehal Wadhera and Tim David have played some good cameos this season and are capable of scoring quick runs in the death overs.

In the absence of Jasprit Bumrah, the bowling was one of the biggest weaknesses for the team at the start of the season. However, the Mumbai Indians seem to have found the right mix of youth and experience here. Piyush Chawla is the lew wicket-taker so far and will be looking to continue with his good form here.

Jason Behrendorff and Chris Jordan are likely to start with the new ball, while Akash Madhwal will once again hold the key at the end.

Weather Report

The weather is expected to be quite warm with temperatures of between 32-36 degrees Celsius.

Pitch Report

While the pitch at the Narendra Modi Stadium has slowed down a bit from the start of the tournament, we can still expect a good batting wicket. The average first-inning score here is around 185. The pitch has a good amount of bounce and some patches of grass which the quicker bowlers can exploit.

Notable stats

Akash Madhwal’s Emergence

Akash Madhwal is emerging as one of the most valuable finds for the Mumbai Indians this season. He has picked up 13 wickets in 7 matches and has an excellent bowling strike rate of 9.92.

Dream11 Prediction

We are backing the Mumbai Indians to win here. They have plenty of experience when it comes to playing in the playoffs and enjoy the highest win percentage among the teams who have played 5+ matches in the playoffs. They have plenty of in-form players in both, batting as well as bowling department.

On the other hand, the Gujarat Titans are banking on a handful of players to perform and their failure to do so can have a huge impact on the others.
