SW vs GGT Match Preview

The batting has been pretty average for the Warriors this season as except for Tom Kohler-Cadmore, none of the batsmen have been able to score consistently. John Denly and Rahmanullah Gurbaz have played a couple of good innings but have lacked consistency. They have some big hitters in the squad, including Dawid Malan and Evin Lewis at the top of the order but their form has been disappointing, to say the least.

The all-rounders Moeen Ali, Mohammad Nabi, and Marcus Stoinis too have had a poor run with the bat. The quicker bowlers, Junaid Siddique and Naveen ul-Haq have had a good time in the middle, picking up a total of 20 wickets between them.

The Gulf Giants are easily one of the best sides of this season and have established themselves as firm favorites to lift the inaugural title.

The Giants have a strong batting line-up, with the likes of James Vince, Shimron Hetmeyer, and Chris Lynn being in top form. The Giants also have a couple of decent all-rounders in the form of Gerhard Erasmus and David Weise, who are capable of scoring some quick runs lower down the order.

Carlos Brathwaite has recently joined the squad and that will further strengthen the team’s ability to score big totals. Talking about the bowling, Chris Jordan has been in prime form, scalping 14 wickets so far, and is the leading wicket-taker in this tournament.

Weather Report

The weather is expected to be clear with no chance of rain and temperatures ranging from 20-23 degrees Celsius.

Pitch Report

The pitch at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium is easy to bat on. It provides the batsmen with plenty of opportunities to score runs thanks to consistent and predictable bounce. While the quicker bowlers are likely to be punished here, the pitch does tend to slow down a bit as the match progresses, giving the spinners a chance to pick up wickets.

Notable stats

Shimron Hetmeyer’s Explosive Batting

Shimron Hetmeyer is one of the biggest hitters of the cricket ball in the Giants’ squad. He has scored 196 runs this season at an exceptional strike rate of 175.00.

Team News

There are no reports of any injuries from either side and we are hoping to see an unchanged playing eleven from both sides for this game.
