DC vs KKR Match Prediction - Mar 30, 2019

These are still early days in the Indian Premier League with only seven matches done so far and we have already seen quite a few controversies with the latest one being an umpiring howler. Only a handful of teams have managed to stay away from all the drama with Delhi Capitals being one of them. The other one is Kolkata Knight Riders who have been brilliant in each of their first two games. Up ahead in the IPL are Delhi Capitals taking on Kolkata Knight Riders at Feroz Shah Kotla, New Delhi on 30th March. The two teams have had a contrasting run in the IPL thus far. While KKR have won both their matches, although not by much, Delhi Capitals struggled against Chennai Super Kings after registering a much-needed win over Mumbai Indians. It will be the first away match for KKR this season and it will be interesting to see how they fare at Kotla after lightning Eden Gardens with some sensational hitting.

DC vs KKR Team Previews

Delhi Capitals

Just as we predicted, the experience or we can say the lack of it came back to haunt Delhi Chargers in their last encounter wherein they lost steam as they progressed in the match. Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan got them off to a swash-buckling start, but the former's wicket not only stopped the flow of runs but also triggered a mini-collapse from which the erstwhile Daredevils could never recover.

Their last encounter was perceived and advertised as the one between young blood and experienced minds and the result certainly added weight to the statement that T20 is not necessarily a young man's game. Barring the first few overs in which Shaw looked in sublime touch, things never looked in control of the Capitals.

The inexperience at the top of the order was clearly apparent as they allowed Deepak Chahar to settle down and bowl four overs on the trot - something which is a luxury for the bowling side in any T20 game. They, instead, decided to take on the spinners and the experienced CSK bowlers which resulted in a flurry of wickets.

Defending a smallish total of 147, the Daredevils never really looked in the match through the scoreboard suggests something else. It was only Chennai's lack of intent to finish the game early and not some superb bowling which took the match to the final over.

All in all, Delhi Capitals are emphatically talented on paper, but the lack of experience is a huge cause of concern for them. Although Shikhar Dawan has been amongst the runs in the IPL thus far, he needs to be far more proactive to hit the bowlers out of the park than he has been in the two matches. This put some unnecessary pressure on the likes of Ingram and Pant - both of whom do not really have much international experience behind them.

Kolkata Knight Riders

Kolkata Knight Riders surprised one and all by not opting to open the innings with Sunil Narine in their opening game of the tournament. However, they recoursed back to their openers which immediately reaped rewards for the Knight Riders.

He kept Varun Chakrobarty out of the attack for a long time as he destroyed young man's opening over. He hammered 24 runs off just one over before being dismissed. Lynn, on the other hand, tried one shot too many and departed early from the crease. The wicket of Narine brought Nitish Rana at the crease and the partnership between Robin Uthappa and Nitish Rana who added 110 runs in just 11 overs and swung the match back into KKR's court.

After Rana was dismissed, KXIP made a schoolboy error as they had just three fielders inside the inner ring which resulted in the no-ball and life for Andre Russell. That is all Russell needed as he sent the ball into the orbit numerous times and KKR finished with 218 runs on the board. Nitish Rana and Robin Uthappa scored 67 and 63 runs each respectively and Russel scored 48 off just 18 deliveries.

The modern-day Kolkata Knight Riders appear to be a little more fearless and a lot less chancy which has been the case with their batsmen on almost all occasions. Although 219 runs is a huge total - while chasing or batting first, Kings XI Punjab had the firepower to overhaul it. Having said that, the KKR bowlers bowled brilliantly who were ably assisted by Dinesh Karthik's shrewd captaincy as they eventually emerged on top by 28 runs.

DC vs KKR Toss Prediction

Shreyas Iyer won the toss and decided to bat first in the last encounter at this venue which backfired as the dew made it slightly easier for the team batting second. With the chances of dew having an impact high, the team winning the toss should be looking to bowl first.

Read our guide on toss predictions to learn how we analyze and come up with our tips.

Pitch and Conditions

It's expected to be bright and sunny during the day and therefore we can expect the dew to have an impact during the night. The surface is expected to be similar to the one used in DC v CSK game which offered some assistance for the slower bowlers and change of pace here could be useful. The team batting first should be looking to score over the range of 160-170 so as to keep a margin of safety.

DC vs KKR Dream11 Prediction

Andre Russell has been instrumental to KKR's wins and he is not only likely to feature in the playing eleven but is also going to get four overs as a full-time bowler and a good number of deliveries to come in and smash a few. Leaving him out will only be foolish. Also, Delhi is a strong bowling unit and considering the statistics of Sunil Narine against quality quick-bowling, we have decided to give him a pass.

Dinesh Karthik doesn't really bat in the top-five and is unlikely to get a good amount of time at the crease. Rishabh Pant, on the other hand, is likely to come out with many overs still remaining and is also in splendid form. Pant is our choice for the wicket-keeper slot.

Delhi's surface is expected to be slow and it will be best to avoid foreign batsmen considering the fact that the surface could be conducive to spin bowling. Therefore, we have kept Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw, Robin Uthappa, Nitish Rana, and Shreyas Iyer as batsmen in our Dream11 side.

DC vs KKR Betting Tips

Just like the last match was for the DCs, a battle between youth and experience, the upcoming fixture could be weighed in on the same scale. Kolkata Knight Riders are more experienced side as far as batting is concerned, but they do not really have the same experience in their quick bowling attack. However, Piyush Chawla and Kuldeep Yadav add another dimension to their attack which proved to be game-changer in the last match. Considering the recent form and the teams on paper, the Kolkata Knight Riders are better placed to win the upcoming encounter and maintain their supremacy at the top of the table.
