NOR vs YOR Match Prediction & Betting Tips - Aug 16, 2018

Northamptonshire are struggling at the bottom of North Group ladder and there's no way they can avoid that place. They, however, can still have a big influence on the outcome of the tournament, beginning with their next game. They face Yorkshire on 16th August in a home game at County Ground, Northampton. Yorkshire, on the contrary, are still in the hunt for the playoff spot, but a loss here will send them crashing out of the tournament. Though Northamptonshire won't be as desperate for a win as Yorkshire, expect them to try hard to win this one and upset Yorkshire.

NOR vs YOR Team Previews

Northamptonshire

Northamptonshire are six points off the next team in the points table, such has been their fate in the tournament. They've managed to win just one out of the 12 games played and are stuck on just three points. They were out of the competition a long ago, but they still have a huge role to play in this upcoming match.

As has been the case with them in the whole of the tournament, they failed to put up an authoritative performance against Durham consequently losing the match by 12 runs. Northants' bowlers did well to reduce Durham's total to just 174 runs in twenty overs, but their batsmen failed to carry on after being in a match-winning situation at one stage.

Northamptonshire did not get off to a flying start as they were at just 37 for the loss of one wicket after the conclusion of the powerplay. They picked up some pace post that, thanks to some intelligent hitting by Joshua Cobb, but with no support from another end, they needed 34 from 20 deliveries at the end. They did well to get to this position as they needed 104 off the final ten overs and they shaved 70 runs off the target in just 40 deliveries. They eventually could score only 21 runs thereby losing the match by 12 runs.

Yorkshire

Two back to back defeats for Yorkshire has put them in a spot of bother as far as qualification to the next round is concerned. They not only need to win their next two matches but also hope some other things to fall in the right place. Their last match proved to be terrible for them as it Nottinghamshire smashed them by 63 runs. The margin of loss hurt them in their last match if the net run comes into the picture.

Bowling first on a decent wicket to bat on, they started off decently with the ball. Fisher and Brooks were particularly accurate as they dismissed Alex Hales and Riki Wessels in quick succession. They, however, failed to pick up any wicket after that for around 11 overs which yielded close to 110 runs. Libby and Moores were in punishing form as, except Willey and Brooks, each bowler was smashed with an economy rate of over eleven. Fisher picked up two scalps but he conceded with an economy rate of 13.50 in his four overs.

Chasing a massive total of 212, they needed a strong start in the second innings, but Adam Lyth was dismissed in a quest to score quickly. David Willey and Tom Kohler-Cadmore partnered to launch a counter-attack, but Yorkshire lost the plot after Willey was dismissed with the team's total at 101 for two after 12.3 overs. Ballance, Williamson, and Brook all failed to provide much-needed impetus to their innings as they eventually lost the match.

NOR vs YOR Betting Tips

Although Yorkshire are still in it with a mathematical chance, the chances of their qualification are remote. They need to win both their matches by huge margins and hope for Notts to lose by a similar difference. Northamptonshire, on the other hand, have nothing to lose and will be playing for pride. With everything to play for and having a better performance in the tournament, on the whole, Yorkshire are better placed to win the upcoming fixture.
