RSA vs SL Match Prediction - Mar 24, 2019

The test series defeat acted as a wake-up call for the Proteas as they went on to hit an unbeaten winning streak of seven matches including five ODIs and T20Is. The Sri Lankans were successful in the red-ball version of the game, but the change of format has brought about a drastic change in fortunes for them. With tour about to come to conclusion with the final match set to be played on 24th March at The Wanderers, Johannesburg. Sri Lanka will be looking to end the tour on a high which otherwise has nothing to cheer about for their fans. South Africa, on the other hand, will just be looking to do what they've been doing so far.

RSA vs SL Team Previews

South Africa

Going into the second ODI series, South Africa rested their five main players. Yet, there wasn't even slightest of a hint of that considering the way they performed on the field. They survived a near scare in the first T20I match but went on to pick up a 16-run victory in the second.

South Africa exhibited a poor display of batting in the first match, but they learned from that and produced a brilliant performance in the second match. Their tall total was set up by the stand between Reeza Hendricks and Rassie van der Dussen after Aiden Markram failed to impress. With a little cameo from JP Duminy towards the end, South Africa managed to get to 180, which eventually proved to be too tall for the visitors.

Although the game is of little significance as far as the final result of the series is concerned, South African players are expected to come hard considering it to be their last opportunity to showcase their skills before the World Cup team is picked. So far in the tournament, the Proteas have been several notches above Sri Lanka and it won't be easy to match them in the third match as well.

South Africa Playing 11

Aiden Markram, Reeza Hendricks, Jean-Paul Duminy, David Miller, Sinethemba Qeshile, Andile Phehlukwayo, Chris Morris, Dwaine Pretorius, Junior Dala, Lutho Sipamla, Tabraiz Shamsi.

Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka came close to a win in the first match of the series, but that was as close as they could get in the series. They suffered a narrow defeat thereafter which at one stage was expected to be a lot deeper.

Chasing 181, they slipped to 87 for 7 in the 14th over before Isuru Udana lifted them to 164, successful only in reducing the deficit of the loss. Sri Lankan top-order has been failing since the beginning of limited overs leg and they'd need something special to bail them out. Apart from Niroshan Dickwella and Isuru Udana, no batsman has looked comfortable against the express Protean bowler which has been the major cause of their back to back defeats.

With seven consecutive defeats to their name in the white-ball format of the game, Sri Lanka will be desperately looking for redemption at Johannesburg. We have seen a couple of brilliant individual performances from them, but they've cleared lacked the team effort. They have nothing to lose and everything to gain when they face Proteas in the last match and teams in these sort of situations can be very dangerous to deal with. They've got the talent and if they can produce a collective effort, the Proteas will have their work cut out.

Sri Lanka Playing 11

Niroshan Dickwella, Avishka Fernando, Kamindu Mendis, Angelo Perera, Thisara Perera, Dhananjaya de Silva, Isuru Udana, Akila Dananjaya, Lasith Malinga, JDF Vandersay, Suranga Lakmal.

RSA vs SL Toss Prediction

With surface likely to slow down over the course of the match, expect the captain winning the toss to bat first.

Pitch and Conditions

When the two teams met earlier on the same venue, batting wasn't easy for the new batsman, especially with the older ball. Although the same is expected to happen yet again, the fewer number of overs will certainly bring down the impact of the slowness of the surface. Anything more than 175 will be extremely tough to chase here.

RSA vs SL Dream11 Prediction

With Niroshan Dickwella likely to get some confidence back after playing a small cameo in the second match and David Miller coming so late in the order, he is our first choice for the wicket-keeper slot. Other than that, there's nothing pretty specific and going by the recent performances would be the right way to go.

RSA vs SL Betting Tips

Although the game lacks context as far as the result of the series goes, there's still a lot to play for both the sides. The South African players will be looking to showcase their skills in a bid to cement a World Cup squad whereas for Sri Lankans it will be more about redemption. They have one last chance to bring some positivity to what has been a rather dark series for them. However, considering the way things have panned out in the series and the form the Proteas are in, South Africa are clear favorites to emerge on top in the upcoming fixture.
