TKR vs JT Match Prediction & Betting Tips - Aug 11, 2018

The Trinbago Knight Riders got their CPL 2018 campaign off to a winning start as they brushed aside the St. Lucia Stars with ease. They were the favorites going into that game and their next game is expected to provide a much more difficult challenge for the reigning champions. The Jamaica Tallawahs finished 3rd on the league table last year and ended up losing the eliminator. They are one of the teams to watch this year thanks to some of their biggest players being in exceptional form before the start of the tournament.

Can the Trinbago Knight Riders continue its winning streak or will the Jamaica Tallawahs be able to stop this juggernaut?

TKR vs JT Team Previews

Trinbago Knight Riders

The opening match of the tournament that the Knight Riders played against the Stars was a mismatch of epic proportions. The Knight Riders are stacked to the gills with quality T20 players. Just take a look at their batting lineup.

They have Chris Lynn, Brendon McCullum, Colin Munro, Denesh Ramdin, Dwyane Bravo and Sunil Narine in the playing eleven. These are all seasoned T20 cricketers and include some of the hardest hitters of the cricket ball in the world.

Colin Munro and Denesh Ramdin started the tournament very well with their fifties helping the side reach a massive total. Ramdin scored his 50 at a strike rate of 185.18 and cleared the boundary four times. In a team where he can sometimes be overlooked, Denesh Ramdin is taking this opportunity to ensure that he will be at the forefront of everyone’s mind that is watching from here on in.

Lynn was batting with a lot of freedom at the top of the order and the others are too good to fail for too long. Our only concern is to see Sunil Narine open the batting when far more accomplished players are batting below him in the lineup.

Fawad Ahmed and Dwayne Bravo started the tournament very well with the ball. They both took three wickets and were miserly with the runs. Stronger tests will come against better batting lineups but the start was encouraging for sure.

Jamaica Tallawahs

One of the most exciting sides of the competition, the Jamaica Tallawahs are coming into this tournament as the dark horses everyone is watching out for. They have a fit again Andre Russell leading the charge along with Rovman Powell who seems to have found a different gear in his cricket off late.

Both of these players are the best all-rounders in the Caribbean right now thanks especially down to their power hitting. No team can be safe of defending a total until the pair of them is at the crease.

The Tallawahs have also picked some very good T20 players. Shahid Afridi is as difficult to score of as ever and even though his batting comes off far too infrequently to be taken seriously, the day it does come off is a wonderful day to watch cricket. Imad Wasim from Pakistan is another player that should find a place in the side thanks to his effective left-arm bowling and the ability to slog the ball down the order.

Andre Fletcher will be tasked with getting the team off to a good start and be backed by a batting lineup that will have to choose from players like Ross Taylor, Glenn Phillips, and David Miller. Even though Miller has seen a dip in form over the last few months, we would like to see him in the side and given the freedom to play his natural game.

One the bowing side, Kemar Roach will be leading the pace bowling department. Roach has been bowling close to his best in recent times and possesses the skill to make things difficult for the brilliant Trinbago Knight Riders batting lineup as well. He will also have Samuel Badree, one of the best leg spinners in T20 cricket, in the side to help him win matches for the Jamaica Tallawahs.

Pitch and Conditions

A 20% chance of rain has been forecast for match day but hopefully, the match will take place uninterrupted. The pitch was very good for batting in the opening encounter and is expected to remain the same for this match. Two very strong batting lineups are going to be taking on each other in a tournament where home advantage definitely counts for something.

A score of around 180 should be considered par.

TKR vs JT Betting Tips

The Trinbago Knight Riders have lost to Jamaica Tallawahs in four out of the last five matches they have played against each other. Both teams are stacked with international talent and we have a feeling that this contest could be a precursor of the direction this tournament is going to go.

We are backing the away team in this one because they have the players to win this match and are available at a fantastic rate for the punters.

Back Jamaica Tallawahs to win.
