Chris Lynn played an excellent inning of 87 in the previous match to carry the Strikers to 177 but it proved to be quite insufficient in the end. He has been the best batter for the Strikers this season but it is clear to see, this is not the explosive Lynn of his prime. He can get quick runs but more often than not, his strike rate stays between the 130-150 mark at best.
Matt Short seems to have just tapered off after his excellent start and the rest of the batting has not quite performed. Adam Hose and Colin de Grandhomme have a few cameos but nothing more. There is also a clear lack of depth in the lineup.
The bowling attack for the Adelaide Strikers has been very effective on occasion but not having Thornton available to them in the previous match showed some shortcomings. Wes Agar and Rashid Khan were quite expensive and none of the other bowlers were able to get any measure of control over the Hurricanes.

The Hobart Hurricanes came into BBL 12 with a strong squad that many fancied as possible total contenders. They have played six matches with three wins and three losses. Interestingly, they are yet to win two matches in a row! Faheem Ashraf joined the lineup in place of Shadab Khan which could be a net negative for the Hurricanes, all things considered.
The powerful batting lineup is showing some good signs of form as almost all their major batters have scored some important runs. Ben McDermott, Darcy Short, Caleb Jewell, Matthew Wade, and Tim David are all powerful strikers that are backed up by Asif Ali, Faheem Ashraf, and Mitchell Owen.
In terms of batting strength and depth, the Hurricanes are far ahead of the Strikers.
The bowling unit has been led by Patrick Dooley. His mystery spin has been tough to pick for most of the players and the fast bowlers also seem to be hitting their stride. Rilee Meredith and Nathan Ellis will play a vital role in this match as well.
