AUS vs ENG Match Prediction - Nov 22, 2022

Australia has won the ODI series against England, with a fair bit of ease we might add. There is nothing at stake in the third match but with the ODI World Cup in 2023, both teams will probably be looking at developing their player pool a bit.

So far, Australia's batters have shown more patience and been able to last longer than England's. The home team has also had the better bowling attack quite clearly. England has rested and rotated its players quite a bit in the two matches and that is likely to continue in the third.

No surprise then that Australia goes into this match as the clear favorite at all the best cricket betting sites.

Match prediction and cricket betting tips for Australia vs England 3rd ODI 2022. The match is going to be played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Melbourne on the 22nd of November 2022.

AUS vs ENG Team Previews

Australia

Australia is a more traditional cricket team than England and that is paying dividends in ODI cricket. Batters like Steve Smith and David Warner have been more at ease in this format where they have time to construct an inning. Smith has scored 174 runs so far without being dismissed. In this form, you can look to bet on him again.

Marnus Labuschagne and Travis Head are also in good form and could get a big score too. Over a 50-over period, Australia has looked like the better team so far but if it is a flat pitch and high-scoring conditions, we think Australia could struggle to match England.

Mitchell Starc has bowled very well but going by the rotation policy we have seen, he may be rested for this match. Cummins and Hazelwood may well play this third match with Stoinis and Marsh filling in for the third seamer. Adam Zampa has been the pick of the bowlers and is easily the highest wicket-taker so far.

Melbourne can be a bit tough for spinners as it has short straight boundaries so he may not have a great game this time around.

Australia Playing 11

David Warner, Travis Head, Steven Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, Alex Carey, Mitchell Marsh, Marcus Stoinis, Sean Abbott, Pat Cummins, Adam Zampa, Josh Hazlewood.

England

England has made a lot of changes to its playing eleven in this series but not a single player has looked out of his depth or the team at sea against Australia. England has lost both of its matches by big margins but that has more to do with risks that did not come off. The ODI format rewards a bit more patience since the resources (wickets) are spread over a longer time frame.

Also, the fact that Jason Roy is in such terrible form is compounding the trouble for England's lineup. Roy may well be playing for his place in the team in this next match. With Moeen Ali and Sam Curran in the lineup, England had more depth at its disposal but not having Jos Buttler was a massive blow.

If the England captain does not play the next match, we think England will have a hard time avoiding a 3-0 scoreline. This is particularly because England's batting has to compensate for its weak bowling.

Woakes, Curran, and Willey are not threatening as a bowling group and the spin-bowling options are expected to have a tougher time at the MCG. These are not good signs for the English team.

England Playing 11

Philip Salt, Jason Roy, Dawid Malan, James Vince, Sam Billings, Jos Buttler, Chris Woakes, Sam Curran, Liam Dawson, David Willey, Olly Stone.

AUS vs ENG Toss Prediction

The team that wins the toss is likely to want to bat first. There is no statistical advantage to batting first or chasing and so we don't think the toss will play much of a role.

Pitch and Conditions

The conditions in Melbourne are expected to be overcast but the chances of rain are low. The pitch at the MCG was quite lively during the T20 World Cup and at this early stage in the season, we can expect more of the same. Pace, bounce, and a lot of carry should be on offer.

The large square boundaries are always hard to clear and so batters have no option but to attack the spinners. A score of around 260-280 should be seen as par.

AUS vs ENG Betting Tips

We are going to back Australia in this match. It has been playing better cricket than England consistently and with its batting firing on all cylinders, we think it should be able to win this series 3-0. England's continuing experimentation with its playing eleven should also help Australia win this third match.

At this point, this betting market just seems like taking free money! Jason Roy has been in terrible form and is a walking wicket waiting to fall. Betting against him to score runs in this match (and thus the opening partnership) is an easy decision to make.
