After losing skipper Iqbal in the 10th over, Litton Das and Najmul Hossain Shanto batted patiently to build up a partnership as they put up 101 runs for the 3rd wicket. They were a bit unlucky to miss out on well-deserved centuries as both got out in their 70s.
Towhid Hridoy, who is making his ODI debut in this series was once again in excellent touch as he scored 49 runs off 34 deliveries. But it was Mushfiqur Rahim who stole the show as he scored a blistering century to power Bangladesh to power Bangladesh to their highest-ever total in ODIs. Rahim reached the 100-run mark in just 60 deliveries, making it the fastest-ever century by a Bangladesh batsman in ODIs.
The hosts have plenty of firepower in the bowling department too. Ebadot Hossain picked up 4 wickets in the opening match to rattle the Ireland batsmen and will be hoping to put up a similar performance here. Taskin Ahmed is expected to start with the new ball along with Mustafizur Rahman, while Shakib Al-Hasan and Nasum Ahmed are likely to play an important role in the middle overs.

When Ireland defeated the Bangladesh Board XI in a practice match at the start of their tour, the fans had hoped that the team will put up a good performance in the ODI series too. However, the visitors have been under the pump since the start of the series.
The bowlers have conceded more than 300 runs in both matches so far and will be feeling the heat. Graham Hume, who picked up 4 wickets in the opening game, was once again the leading wicket-taker here with 3 wickets. But he, along with fellow seamers Curtis Campher and Mark Adair, will need to be a bit more disciplined with the line and length.
The bowlers have bowled a total of 18 wides in the two matches so far, which is unacceptable at this level of the competition. The spinners, Matthew Humphreys, Andy McBrine, and Harry Tector too have struggled to rein in the Bangladesh batsmen. The team will depend on Stephen Doheny and Paul Stirling to give them a good start here. However, the middle-order batsmen including skipper Andrew Balbirnie, Lorcan Tucker, and Gareth Delany haven’t been in the best of forms.
George Dockrell mounted a late attack on Bangladesh bowlers in the opening game and will be hoping to play a similar inning here.

Pitch and Conditions
The surface at the Sylhet Cricket Stadium is flat and good to bat on, thanks to the even bounce that it offers. Playing shots is easy here and the fast outfield makes it advantageous for the batsmen. However, the bowlers too will get some help here provided they bowl a good line and length.
There is some movement early on for the seamers, while the spinners will see some turn as the match progresses. We can expect another 300+ score in the first inning here on Thursday.
