BH vs MLS Match Prediction - Jan 22, 2023

It looks like it’s all over for the Stars this season, as they languish in last place with only six points, and it probably won’t get much better with one win in their previous five games.

The Heat are proving that they can make a run at the Top 4 spots, as they are rolling with three wins in a row, the latest one being a close but convincing victory over the Hurricanes by 12 runs.

BH vs MLS Team Previews

Brisbane Heat

The Heat just beat the Stars a few games ago, but that was incredibly close and it took a mammoth effort and last-ball heroics from Matt Renshaw for the win. Still, this victory and the last one over the Hurricanes prove that Brisbane is a threat in the BBL.

The Heat could move into fourth place with a win over the Stars, and you can be sure that they’re going to battle hard to get there. The return of Khawaja (62 total runs) and Marnus Labuschagne (90 total runs) hasn’t been spectacular, but the two Aussie batters still provide good leadership and calmness in recent games.

Renshaw and Peirson continue to pile on the runs, although Peirson has been less of a threat lately, only scoring 33 in his last three matches. Renshaw is the danger man at the crease and the Stars will be extra careful when he’s up.

Neser is bowling incredibly well at the right time, taking 7/52 over his last two games. If he can keep this going, then the Heat have a shot of reaching the playoffs. There’s a bit of a dip to find another great bowler, but Bazley is decent with 13 total wickets.

Brisbane Heat Playing 11

Usman Khawaja, Josh Brown, Marnus Labuschagne, Matt Renshaw, Sam Hain, Jimmy Peirson, Michael Neser, James Bazley, Spencer Johnson, Mitchell Swepson, Matthew Kuhnemann.

Melbourne Stars

The Stars never really had much of a chance this season, as Maxwell was injured for the season before a ball was bowled, and Stoinis’ absence has also been notable.

The one bright spot for the team has been the batting of Joe Clarke (346 total runs), and the Stars will have to hope they can hold onto him for next season.

Luke Wood’s bowling has also been a highlight, although he’s only taken four wickets in his last five matches… that’s not nearly enough to capture wins. Zampa is a bit disappointing with only 13 wickets.

Melbourne Stars Playing 11

Joe Clarke, Thomas Fraser Rogers, Campbell Kellaway, Marcus Stoinis, Hilton Cartwright, BJ Webster, Nick Larkin, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Luke Wood, Liam Hatcher, Adam Zampa.

BH vs MLS Toss Prediction

The Heat may look to bowl first if winning the toss and look to remove the Stars for a low score.

Pitch and Conditions

Swing bowlers get a lot of turn and movement at the Gabba, so Neser will be in his element. Batters will need to be careful here but the bounce can be favourable if the batsman is ready.

BH vs MLS Betting Tips

The Stars have some good players, but their season is already done and the Heat are far too powerful right now with Renshaw and Neser at the top of their games.

The teams match up well historically, with Brisbane having a 9-7 record overall, but the Heat will be playing tough for a playoff spot and won’t go easy. The odds suggest the Stars will get you a better return, but we trust Brisbane to get the victory in this matchup.

Bet on Brisbane to win.
