DOL vs TIT Match Prediction - Feb 26, 2023

With the ongoing season of the CSA 4-Day Franchise Series already halfway through, the Dolphins will host the Titans at Durban on Sunday for a much-awaited encounter.

Both the teams are in good form at the moment as they have won their previous two completed matches. The Dolphins are currently 4th on the points table and the Titans are one step above in the third spot. As a result, we should have an exciting game of cricket on our hands as both teams try to climb up the points ladder.

DOL vs TIT Team Previews

Dolphins

The Dolphins didn’t have the best of starts to the season as they lost their opening match, which was played against the Warriors. However, they have managed to turn things around, remaining unbeaten in their last 3 matches, and winning the last 2.

Opener Sarel Erwee scored a brilliant century in the second innings of the last match, as the Dolphins defeated the Knights by a huge margin of 279 runs. Eathan Bosch and Khaya Zondo too are in good form with the bat and the team will be banking on them to play a big inning lower down the order. However, the form of other top-order batsmen, including Tshepang Dithole, Keegan Petersen, and Marques Ackerman will remain a cause of concern for the Dolphins.

In the bowling department, captain Keshav Maharaj has been unplayable on many occasions and is by far the leading wicket-taker for his team with 23 wickets but he might miss this match due to international duties. Talking about the quicker bowlers, Ottniel Baartman will lead the new ball attack along with Eathan Bosch and Daryn Dupavillon. However, the latter has struggled throughout this season, managing to pick up just 4 wickets in 3 matches.

Dolphins Playing 11

Andile Phehlukwayo, Bryce Parsons, Grant Roelofsen, Jason Smith, JJ Smuts, Khaya Zondo, Marques Ackerman, Ottneil Baartman, Prenelan Subrayen, Sarel Erwee, Thando Ntini.

Titans

While the Titans’ last match was washed out without a ball bowled, they are unbeaten this season and have won their last 2 matches. However, the team might be a bit rusty as they take the field on Sunday, they played their last match way back in November.

The Titans are likely to miss the services of 2 of their best batsmen this season, as both Dean Elgar and Heinrich Klaasen are in the international squad. In their absence, the team will depend on Neil Brand and Theunis de Bruyn to score some runs here. Both the batsmen looked to be in good touch when they played their previous match against the Lions in November, making scores of 91 and 101 runs respectively in the first innings. Captain Sibonelo Makhanya however has struggled to get going, and so has Jiveshan Pillay.

Dayyan Galiem is likely to lead the pace attack along with Ayabulela Gqmane and Lizaad Williams.

The 3 have done a good job till now, picking up a total of 22 wickets between them. However, the spin attack looks a bit weak after the departure of Simon Harmer, who has been their leading wicket-taker this season.

DOL vs TIT Toss Prediction

The team winning the toss will likely opt to bat first.

Pitch and Conditions

The pitch at the Kingsmead Stadium is well-balanced, providing plenty of opportunities to the batsmen as well as the bowlers. The batsmen will enjoy the consistent bounce during the first couple of days, but it does get a bit difficult to bat on as the match progress.

The average first-inning score here is around 300, and anything over 170 will be difficult to chase here in the 4th innings. The seamers will get plenty of help here due to windy conditions, but the spinners are likely to struggle.

The weather is likely to remain overcast and we might see some delays and interruptions due to rain.

DOL vs TIT Betting Tips

Both teams are in good form at the moment, having won their last 2 matches. Looking at their current form, there is little separating the two as they head into what promises to be an engaging contest. With some of the key players missing from both sides and the weather likely to shorten the game, we are unlikely to see any team having an advantage here. You should probably look for a draw.

If you do find a Draw no bet, you can look for a good price on the Dolphins as well.<br />
