But they fell short by a solitary run and had to endure a heart-breaking loss in the final. Sunil Narine was declared player of the match for his all-around performance for Comilla Victorians.

The most successful bowler for Fortune Barishal in this final was Mujeeb Ur Rahman who picked up a couple of wickets for 27 runs from his 4 overs. Shafiqul Islam also picked up two wickets while giving away 31 runs from his 4 overs. All other Barishal bowlers were among the wickets with Shakib Al Hasan, Dwayne Bravo, and Mehdi Hasan Rana picking up a wicket apiece. The Fortune Barishal side provided a spirited chase with Shykat Ali scoring 58 runs for the team from 34 balls with 11 fours and one six. The veteran hitter Chris Gayle also scored 33 runs from 331 balls. But others did not contribute much to the team total.

After a disastrous season in BPL 2022, Sylhet Strikers have made a winning start to their campaign this year with a win in their first match. The top-order batting for Sylhet Strikers will be in the hands of Shamsur Rahman and Najmul Hossain Shanto. The Sylhet middle order will be in the hands of the likes of Ryan Burl, Mohammad Haris, and Towhid Hridoy. The Strikers' bowling attack will be handled by the skipper Mashrafe Mortaza, Mohammad Amir, Nabil Samad, Rejaur Rahman Raja, and Rubel Hossain. There are some quality all-rounders on this team such as Thisara Perera, Colin Ackermann, and Gulbadin Naib.

Sylhet Strikers have made a good beginning to their campaign in this year's BPL competition by winning their first game against Chattogram Challengers. It was a pretty one-sided and easy win for Sylhet as they restricted the Chattogram team to a small total of 89 runs for the loss of 9 wickets. Later they chased down this total easily by scoring 90 for the loss of just 2 wickets in 12.3 overs. Rajau Rahman Raja was declared the player of the match for this fixture due to his fine bowling performance. He picked up 4 wickets while giving away just 14 runs.

During their bowling effort, Raja was well-supported by Mohammad Amir who picked up 2 wickets for just 7 runs from his quota of 4 overs while Mashrafe Mortaza and Colin Ackermann picked up a wicket apiece. they picked up these wickets giving away 18 and 22 runs respectively. Chasing this total was a breeze for the Sylhet batters. Najmul Hossain Shanto scored 43 runs from 41 balls to make sure that there were no nasty surprises during the chase. He was aided on the way to the target by Zakir Hasan who scored 27 runs from 21 balls.
