Hyderabad

Just like their opponents, the Hyderabad team to has seen a lot of off-field drama regarding team management and player selections. This seems to have affected the morale of its players as the performance of the team has nosedived this season.

After playing 5 matches, Hyderabad is yet to win a game and is languishing at the bottom of the points table. After drawing their opening game against Tamil Nadu,  they have lost each of their last 5 matches, of which two were by more than an inning.

Much of this dismal run can be attributed to the constant chopping and churning by the selection committee before every game. As many as 24 players, including 9 debutants, have been used this season, with the playing eleven getting changed in every game.

Even top performers like Mickil Jaiswal, who scored a century in the opening game, and Kartikeya Kal, who is the highest wicket-taker in the squad, were made to sit out at some point. This strategy of constant changes has backfired and it is ultimately the team that has suffered.

Nevertheless, the team will be hoping to get some solace by registering a win in this last game. 

Delhi

Delhi will need to take a lot of lessons once their current Ranji campaign ends. The runners-up from the 2017-18 season were fighting to avoid relegation to the Plate group as they went winless in the first 5 rounds.

However, things took a turn for the better in their latest outing, where they managed to stun the title-aspirants Mumbai, defeating them for just the second time in their history. The Delhi campaign has been marred by various controversies regarding the selection of players but thankfully, that did not affect the team’s on-field performance this time around.

Missing some of its key bowlers, Delhi has been one of the weakest bowling attacks this season, having conceded more than 400 runs on 4 occasions. However, the seamers, particularly Pranshu Vijayran and Divij Mehra, were quite effective on the wicket at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Divij took a fifer in the second innings to limit the target to 95 on the final day.

Despite facing a tricky pitch, the Delhi top order adopted an aggressive approach and led their team to an 8-wicket win. Dhruv Shorey has by far been the top performer for his team with the bat, while more will be expected of all-rounder Hrithik Shokeen from this game.
