Saurashtra will be looking to register its first win in the ongoing season of the Ranji Trophy as it faces Mumbai in a Group B fixture starting on Tuesday.

Mumbai is the favorite to win this match. While the odds on offer for their win are much shorter than what we would have wanted, the punters have plenty of opportunities to make a quick buck by placing side bets on this game.

Mumbai is once again the favorite to lift the trophy this year, all thanks to its excellent bench strength. The team has won each of its first two matches and is comfortably sitting at the top of the points table in Group B.

In its opening game, Mumbai comfortably defeated Andhra Pradesh by 9 wickets, while its second match, played against Hyderabad, was even more one-sided as Mumbai defeated them by an innings and 217 runs. Captain Ajinkya Rahane was in superb form in that game, scoring an excellent double-century. He was ably supported by Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sarfaraz Khan, as Mumbai posted a mammoth total of 651-6 before they declared the innings.

Shams Mulani picked up 11 wickets in the match, while Tanush Kotian ended with 7 wickets as they rattled the Hyderabad batsmen. Prithvi Shaw hasn’t been able to score a big inning so far but it is just a matter of time before he starts going. Also, with players like Suryakumar Yadav and Armaan Jaffer in their arsenal, Mumbai is easily the best batting unit in this tournament and we can surely expect some fireworks in this game.

Saurashtra is off to a slow start this season as they have managed to play out two consecutive draws at the start of the season and as a result, are 4th in the Group B table.

Their position could have been better if they had been a bit more disciplined with the ball in the opening match played against Assam. Jay Gohil scored a superb double-century in that match, while Harvik Desai scored 108. Desai was good in the second match too, while Sheldon Jackson and Arpit Vasavada were finally able to get some runs under their belts.

The bowling effort has been decent too, with Chetan Sakariya leading the list with 9 wickets. Prerak Mankad and Chirag Jani have bowled well in patches, but haven’t been at their menacing best. The team will be desperately waiting for Jaydev Unadkat, who is on international duty in Bangladesh, to be back in the squad. Overall, the Saurashtra team has played well but hasn’t reached its full potential yet.

The pitch at the Bandra Kurla Complex is a balanced one, offering a good and even bounce. The batsmen will be able to score freely, especially in the first couple of days. The seamers too will be looking to exploit the conditions and extract some movement off the pitch.

The spinners will come into action as the pitch deteriorates in the final days. The skies are expected to remain clear but we will see some humidity. The weather will remain between 25-32 degrees Celsius.
