Namibia

Namibia has been in great form for the last few months and has won 8 of the last 10 matches that it has played in this tournament. As a result, it has slowly moved up the points table and is now in the 4th spot, trailing the USA by just 2 points. If Namibia manages to win this one, they will be able to get a toehold in the top 3.

All eyes will be on captain Gerhard Erasmus who has been in excellent form throughout this tournament. He has scored 1093 runs in 25 innings at an average of close to 50. He has also picked up 12 wickets and has an economy of just over 4. Sadly, none of the other batsmen have come even close to Erasmus’ form, leaving a gaping hole in Namibia’s batting lineup.

JJ Smit and Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton have played a couple of good innings but have never been consistent enough. Similarly, the bulk of the heavy lifting in the bowling department has been done by Bernard Scholtz., who has picked up 41 wickets so far. Ruben Trumpelmann and JJ Smit have both bowled well in patches. 

Scotland

Winning its latest match against Nepal, Scotland has climbed up to the number 1 spot on the points table. Given the fact that it still has quite a few matches on hand, we can be pretty sure that Scotland will be finishing at the top of the points table.

In the match against Nepal, Richie Berrington and Kyle Coetzer, two of Scotland’s top batsmen, fell cheaply. However, Christopher McBride played an excellent knock of 43 at the top of the order, while Brandon McMullen and Michael Leask were involved in a 40-run partnership towards the end to take Scotland over the finish line. Earlier in the match, Chris Sole bowled a superb spell of 3-12.

He received good support from Mark Watt, who too was pretty economical at the other hand. The tight bowling helped Scotland limit Nepal to a modest total of 137. The bowling has been a major driving force behind Scotland’s success in this tournament. Hamza Tahir, Mark Watt, and Safyaan Sharif have all picked up 30 wickets or more, while Michael Leask has been an excellent all-rounder.
