NZ vs IND Match Prediction - Nov 25, 2022

New Zealand and India will start their three-match ODI series in Auckland. The weather forecast for match day is quite good and we should be able to get a match to enjoy. This series is a part of the ODI Super League and so there is at least some context to these matches.

India is being led by Shikhar Dhawan and is missing a number of its first-choice players. New Zealand has also rested a few key players and so the contest should be pretty even.

Match prediction and cricket betting tips for New Zealand vs India 1st ODI 2022. The match will be played at Eden Park, Auckland on the 25th of November 2022.

NZ vs IND Team Previews

New Zealand

New Zealand received a rude shock in the T20 series as it was beaten pretty comfortably by a young Indian team. In fact, the rain allowed New Zealand to walk away with a tie in the third match when it looked like losing once more.

Kane Williamson is back for the ODI series and we think the ODI pace will suit him much more than the T20's. It will be interesting to see if New Zealand continues with Finn Allen and Devon Conway at the top of the order or maybe try something a bit different.

Kane Williamson, Tom Latham, Glenn Phillips, Daryl Mitchell, Jimmy Neesham, and one out of Mitch Santner/Michael Bracewell will all be fighting for a spot in the middle order. There is a lot of depth in this batting lineup but finding the patience needed against the Indian spinners is going to be a bit challenging.

Tim Southee, Matt Henry, and one out of Lockie Ferguson or Adam Milne should take up the seam bowling duties. There has been a lot of pace and bounce at the Eden Park off-late and that could play into the hands of the New Zealand team.

New Zealand Playing 11

Finn Allen, Devon Conway, Kane Williamson, Tom Latham, Daryl Mitchell, Glenn Phillips, Mitchell Santner, Adam Milne, Matt Henry, Tim Southee, Lockie Ferguson.

India

India is building towards the ODI World Cup in 2023 and the best players from this squad can hope to make it into the full-strength squad as well. If you have a look at this Indian squad, there is not a single player that you would consider as being 'weak' or a liability at the international level.

The batting will likely feature Shubman Gill, Shikhar Dhawan, and Shreyas Iyer as the top-3. Surely, SKY has to walk in at number four or even swap places with Shreyas Iyer. Numbers five and 6 are likely to be Rishab Pant and Sanju Samson with an opportunity to play either Deepak Hooda/Shardul Thakur/Washington Sundar as the all-round option.

Arshdeep Singh, Deepak Chahar, and Umran Malik are all likely to play the first match with the final place going to Yuzvendra Chahal or Kuldeep Yadav.

This is a strong batting lineup with a bowling attack that is inexperienced but capable of putting New Zealand in trouble.

Pitch and Conditions

The weather forecast for match day is quite good. There are some clouds likely to be around but no rain is expected. The pitch at Eden Park has been hard, fast, and bouncy in recent matches. Batters will have to use the horizontal bat shots well and try to take advantage of the small boundaries.

Despite having one of the shortest boundaries in world cricket, the scores at Eden Park have not been astronomical. We think something around 300-320 is on the cards in this match and should be seen as par.

NZ vs IND Betting Tips

We are going to back India to win this match. India is once again the underdog at all the leading cricket betting sites. While that is understandable, we think the team is being undervalued. The batting lineup is strong and perhaps the future of Indian cricket. The bowling is a bit lacking in experience but bowlers like Deepak Chahar and Arshdeep are quite capable of finding swing in helpful conditions and challenging the batters.

Bet on India to win.

Is there a player in the world that is in better form than SKY at the moment? We don't think so. He looked completely at ease against the New Zealand bowlers in the T20's and should find run-scoring easy in the ODI's as well. Also, SKY has the game to exploit the small boundary at Eden Park.

The weather forecast for match day is good and we should get a full game to enjoy. Looking at the strength of the two teams, the kind of dynamic batters they both possess, and the small boundaries at Eden Park, betting Over is the only way to go.
