OV vs CS Match Prediction - Nov 23, 2022

The Otago Volts and the Central DIstricts are going to play their first match of the Ford Trophy 2022-23 against each other. Needless to say, both teams will want to get off to a strong start in the competition.

OV vs CS Team Previews

Otago Volts

The Otago Volts will be without their best player, Glenn Phillips, since he is going to be on duty with the New Zealand international team. For a team that does not have too many massive stars in its midst, this is a big loss. Hamish Rutherford, Michael Rippon, and Dean Foxtrot are the batters that will be expected to lead the way.

The Volts do not have a very strong batting lineup and may struggle to make an impact.

Jacob Duffy is the standout bowler in this lineup. He has a stellar domestic record and is certainly someone that can help the Volts make a fight out of this.

Central Districts

The Central Districts have traditionally been one of the strongest teams in New Zealand cricket and we think that is the case once more. They have Will Young and Tom Bruce to lead the batting with Doug Bracewell as the all-rounder lending balance to the side. Ajaz Patel, Seth Rance, and Blair Tickner give the Central District a pretty strong bowling lineup also.

There is a lot of experience in this lineup and the fact that the team is not missing too many of its best players is a big advantage.

OV vs CS Toss Prediction

The team that wins the toss is likely to want to bat first.

Pitch and Conditions

There is rain in Dunedin and some stoppages are expected. The forecast is not so bad as to expect a completely rained-out fixture but that can be hard to predict. The pitch should be balanced in nature. It will allow the batters to score runs but offer enough help to keep the bowlers interested as well.

OV vs CS Betting Tips

We think this is a match between two teams that will end up on opposite ends of the table when the tournament is over. The Otago Volts are likely to struggle. Their batting looks weak and they don't have the kind of bowling that will rip through opposition teams. The Central Districts, on the other hand, have a superb lineup that is well-balanced.

Bet on the Central Districts to win.
