Pakistan Women

After suffering a shock defeat in the first T20, the Pakistan Women’s team came back strongly in the second game, to defeat the visitors by 6 wickets in a rain-curtailed match.

Pakistan was sorely missing its star player from the ODI series, Sidra Ameen, as they were limited to a modest total of 135 in the first match. Ireland chased it down with plenty of deliveries and wickets to spare, taking an early lead. It took an excellent all-round performance by Nida Dar to get Pakistan over the line in the second match.

While the batting was Pakistan’s biggest strength in the ODI series, it has been disappointing, to say the least in the T20s. Other than Nida, none of the batters have managed to take on the Irish bowlers, and that has led to difficulties in chasing even a modest total. Ghulam Fatima was excellent in the ODIs but has failed to have an impact. Most of the wickets for Pakistan have been taken by Nida Dar and Nashra Sandhu.<br />  

Ireland Women

Ireland pulled up one of the biggest upsets in Women’s cricket this year, as it defeated Pakistan in the first T20. They came close to victory in the second game too, but the hosts snatched a win with just 6 deliveries to spare.

Orla Prendergast has been in excellent form, taking 3 wickets and scoring 59 runs in 2 matches. Gaby Lewis was excellent in the first match, while Amy Hunter managed to give her team a good start in the second match.

The bowling hasn’t been that great for Ireland, as most of the heavy lifting has been done by Orla and Arlene Kelly. The team will need the likes of Laura Delany and Richardson to step up if they want to clinch this series.
