Royal Challengers Bangalore Women

The Royal Challengers started this season as one of the front-runners to lift the title trophy. They have one of the strongest batting line-ups among all franchises, thanks to the presence of world-class players like Smriti Mandhana, Ellyse Perry, and Heather Knight. However, they will be thoroughly disappointed with the outcomes of their first 3 matches as they have lost all of them and are at the bottom of the points table.

The fans had expected a lot of fireworks from the Bangalore top order, but their performance so far has been a bit underwhelming. Mandhana and Ellyse Perry have got some good starts but have failed to convert them into a match-winning performance.

Sophie Devine has struggled in the first 2 matches but finally managed to get back in form during the last outing, scoring a quick half-century. The two Indian batters in the middle order, Richa Ghosh and Kanika Ahuja too have struggled so far. The bowlers have been very expensive as they have conceded more than 200 runs in both matches that they have bowled first.

Much was expected from Renuka Singh Thakur and Megan Schutt at the start of the series but both have failed to rein in the opposition batters. Heather Knight is the only bowler who has managed to pick wickets regularly. 

UP Warriorz Women

The UP Warriorz Women began their campaign with a win over the Gujarat Giants in their opening game, but they followed it with a 42-run loss against a rampant Delhi Capitals team.

The UP Warriorz have some of the best white-ball players in the world, but they are lacking in quality Indian players and that could cost them dearly. The UP Warriorz is heavily dependent on Tahlia McGrath and Alyssa Healy to score runs for them. Healy is the top-ranked batter in the Women’s ODI, while McGrath is number-1 in WT20s.

The latter played a brilliant inning of 90 runs in the last match, albeit for a losing cause. The Warriorz have two promising batters in the form of Simran Shaikh and Shweta Sehrawat, who will need to soak in the pressure and make a big score here. Kiran Navgire too will be a vital cog in the Warriorz batting line-up.

As expected, Sophie Ecclestone has been the mainstay of UP’s bowling and has picked up 3 wickets in 2 matches. She will depend on all-rounder Deepti Sharma to put pressure on the batters from the other end, while Anjali Sarvani is likely to lead the new-ball attack.
