South Africa

South Africa has been exceptional in this ODI series against England. The performances of Temba Bavuma, a batter that we have never rated highly, have been a massive bonus for the team and it looks like he is finally playing with some freedom and confidence. 

The skipper leading the way and pulling his weight will help the others as well. Quinton de Kock, Rassie van der Dussen, Heinrich Klaasen, and David Miller have all had good series. Most of the batters are striking the ball at over 100 and averaging well above 50! 

The bowling attack has been led by Anrich Nortje who has 6 wickets in the two matches played so far. Kagiso Rabada and Wayne Parnell have also done quite decently in the series with the rest of the bowlers being rotated by the management. 

It was surprising to see Sisanda Magala dropped after a man-of-the-match performance but he could come back for this match. Keshav Maharaj is also likely to get another game ahead of Tabraiz Shamsi. 

England

England has played quite well without getting the reward for it in this series. Jason Roy was brilliant in the first match, Harry Brooks is perhaps a future great in the making, and Jos Buttler scored 94 not out in the previous inning he played. The bowling has not been as effective as it could be but Sam Curran has stood out here as well. 

All in all, the strong England team on paper has performed well but just that the South Africans have played better. 

There is not much for England to gain from this match. It has already qualified for the 2023 World Cup and this series has been lost. We could see some changes in the lineup for this match. England's batting is not really in question and they certainly have the depth to not really depend on just one player but the lack of wicket-taking ability of their bowlers is something that would be worrying them.
